Another concert bypasses Amarillo for Lubbock...
« Thread Started on Jul 22, 2009, 8:22pm »

Amarillo arena too small because WTAMU and Amarillo did not work together.

Not enough college students around Amarillo to support events...which is a WTAMU problem.

Amarillo is fast turning into the land that time forgot.

We just keep falling behind...and not getting new things.

And the Amarillo media refuses to talk about it.

It's bad to see Lubbock getting acts that are too big for Amarillo.

And others like Trans-Siberian Orchestra abandoned Amarillo...and went to Lubbock.

>>> Sure...you can always move from Amarillo...

>>> But the smart thing is to stay and try to get Amarillo to move forward...and fix its problems.

Obama lied...and the economy died.

In order to get himself elected...and push his socialist agenda...

Obama lied and said the economy was worse than it was...to scare consumers into not spending...

That's the sort of bad attitude that Amarillo has...

And that's why Amarillo is falling behind...

And the WTAMU student enrollment is no larger than it was in 1970.

Amarillo is missing out on economic opportunities...because people are willing to drive elsewhere.

Lubbock and Tech are both more aggressive...while Amarillo sleeps and goes nowhere.

Lubbock gets the real Bob Dylan concert.

Amarillo gets a fake Elvis concert.

Houston....We have an Amarillo problem!

Saw a bumper sticker on a pickup yesterday afternoon that sums a few things up.

"Amarillo - Third world and proud of it."

Says a lot about the typical apathetic attitude toward progress in Amarillo.

If things don't change...Amarillo is going to continue to fall behind Lubbock and Texas Tech.

Back-water Amarillo is bypassed again by another major artist for a real concert in Lubbock.

All we usually hear about in Amarillo...

Are minor acts playing at the Midnight Cowdump in the old Gibson's store at 45th and Georgia.

The United Spirit Arena has helped in bringing concerts to Lubbock. A lot of artists by-passed Lubbock when the only venue was the Colliseum, which is accoustically dismal. Unfortunately, Amarillo doesn't have a school the size of Tech to build an arena.

Amarillo misses out again to Lubbock and United Spirit Arena.

This used to come to Amarillo...

But they say our Civic Center is no longer big enough to make it worth coming to Amarillo.

Amarillo and WTAMU had the chance to build a new arena..but did not work together.

The Amarillo Civic Center and WT's basketball arena in Canyon are not big enough to get real concerts.
