Things are beginning to tighten up in several districts as some must wins are surfacing. Let's take a look
Amarillo High - Lubbock High...Longtime traditional game...Lubbock is out of it but AHS is not. The Sandies is tied with three other teams for second place in District 2-5A with a 5-2 record. It is a must win for the Sandies. The Golden Sandstorm hang on to that second place.
Monterey - Coronado...Big rivalry game...that's about it. Neither have any hopes for a playoff spot. I'll pick Monterey 'cause I know their coach.
Odessa - Midland Lee...Ohhhhdessa, the top dog, meets one of the four teams tied for second.....adios Midland Lee your playoff light gets dimmer.
San Angelo Central - Tascosa...A little bus lag on the 300+ mile trip keeps Central in the Cellar. Rebels win.
Midland - Permian....Two of the four teams tied for second with 5-2 district record. No Go for Mojo. Midland 6-2, Mojo 5-3 when the dust clears.
Caprock - Canyon...Think the Eagle have a little too much for the Horns. Should be an interesting game.
Palo Duro - Pampa....Pampa, Palo Duro, Caprock and Randall are all tied in last place of the district. Pampa stays there.
Randall - Dumas...Randall joins Pampa in the basement while Dumas continues its way to the playoffs.
Abilene Cooper - Frenship...I thought earlier in the year this would be a significant game determining playoff position. It isn't. Abilene Cooper goes through Frenship like 'ol what's his name went through Georgia...
Hereford - Plainview...See the above and put Hereford in place of Abilene Cooper.
San Angelo Lakeview - Big Spring...A tune-up game for Big Spring. Everybody gets to play.
Dalhart - Estacado...These guys are tied for second place. A must win for each. Looks like Estacado is playing good ball right now. I will go with those guys.
Borger - Cooper....Borger keeps getting it done. Lubbock Cooper is done. Bulldogs stay in first place and go to the playoffs.
Levelland - Perryton....A must win for the Rangers....and they do.
River Road - Bushland...Bushland continues undefeated toward its playoff run.
Highland Park - Panhandle...HP hangs on to the cellar by staying winless in district and the Panthers just hang on to trying to have a winning season.
Spearman - Sanford-Fritch...Eagles keep their winning ways.
Dimmitt - Muleshoe...Muleshoe, dammitt...
Tulia - Floydada...Due to Tulia forfeiting the remainder of the season, Floyd and Ada will hold a shirts and skins scrimmage. No information is available of who will wear shirts and who will not...
Friona - Childress...Childress need this one bad to stay in the playoff hunt....they won't get it.
Booker - Stratford...A week after playing Canadian, Booker doesn't need this. Show compassion Coach Metcalf.
Canadian - Sunray...A couple of pretty darn good teams hook it up. I'd pay my dollar to see it. I'm thinkin' Canadian stays undefeated in district.
West Texas High - Gruver...Biding time till basketball...Gruver adds a W.
Naz - Claude...Over and Under of 63....and, Naz scores all of 'em.
Clarendon - Memphis...Clarendon gets back on its winning ways.
Shamrock - Quanah...A few diehard fans and parents will see Quanah win.
Wheeler - Wellington...Significant game with all kinds of playoff implications. Smash mouth Wheeler and do everything Wellington will one of the area outstanding games. I think the Skyrockets with their balanced offense ( QB pass, QB run) will get it done.
