OK, so the board descended into anarchy.
Why didn't the moderators just ban the perpetrators and get everything back to normal?
Why did AGN kill the board?

Costs and the fact is they have no moderators and it is just a pain for them to deal with. You get multitudes of folks complaining to them about design, trolls, looks etc, why bother with it? Plus pressure from local AGN advertisers who do not like seeing folks here complain about them help get it shut down. WT is good about giving that whole speal.

Wow amatx thanks for the compliment. and great post. I have to say I feel the same for you. Proponents of "diversity" have the EXACT same goals as neo-nazi skinheads, and no American should be even the reluctant supporter of same.By no means did I mean to advocate skinheads by my use of the word diversity. And perhaps diversity wasn't the correct word to use in this content. Unity is alway preferred. The point I was trying to make was just as an adult we should show respect for others, period. That does not mean agreeing with their views/opinions, etc. There were several times I had to walk away from a discussion because in truth I wanted to slap someone up side the head. However most of us, were reasonable enough to realize that no matter what we said, that person/persons were just not going to get it, nor merely agree to disagree. There were several key people whom thought that just because they were regulars, or under the impression they were "well respected" that their word was set in scripture. And when they didn't get their way resorted to threats and name calling, not to mention the mentality of stomping off with their toys and not playing anymore. In short, acting completely childish! Traveler, as far as your last questions, I don't think anyone can answer those unless they have an insider's view from the person responsible for actually shutting down the site. But personally, if it were me, I would of banned more than the trolls, there were several regulars that IMO led to the demise of TA as well. Oh baybay, I would never utilize my power tools on anyone, well...lets just say I'm saving them all for WT, and I've added a torch to my collection. ;D

There were a number of things that happened to take down TA. Ultimately, the straw that broke the proverbial Camel's back was this: a political debate between some of the old TAer's and a newbie broke down into a rather immature round of name calling. For some reason, this person decided that TA was full of cyber-bullies and took it upon themselves to bring justice to that small little corner of the internet and shut the board down. Well, it turns out the self-annointed cyber-vigilante had an over abundance of time on his hand (unemployed?) and decided to launch his e-attack from his mother's basement. He began a campaign of vigorous trolling and spamming, constantly re-registering under different screen names and viciously attacking the established posters in the forums of TA. People started complaining and the AGN staff kept having to monitor the site. Well, I didn't see it, but he evidently started inserting a picture of male genitalia into various threads and people soon started complaining once again. Upon seeing this, the AGN decided the board was too much of a headache and shut the whole thing down. What it basically amounted to was a complete lack of respect for other people on the part of a select few posters. I have my own opinions on who was behind it, but I will keep those opinions to myself for now.

If you don't know for sure who it was, then how do you know it was done from "his mother's basement?"

That is a just a saying, catsmeow. A figure of speech, if you will. Of course, I do not know if it was done from "mother's basement". It was intended, however, to convey a person with too much time on their hands, most likely due to a lack of gainful employment. As a result, such an individual would quite possibly be hanging "out in mother's basement." Haven't you ever heard that term before? It is often used when describing certain people that troll message boards excessively, most likely due to lack of an outside life.

Honestly, no ... I've never heard that before. But, it makes perfect sense. Thanks for clarifying.

Very simple......Some trolls came on board. Some of the members couldn't keep their mouths shut.....things got worse and worse and then some porn appeared. Didn't last long. Board closed down.

I've only been here a couple of weeks, and the political pissing contests are already very close to driving me away.
