Don't touch anyone who doesn't quote an absolute flat-rate from a printed pricing catalog.
Scottco...largest plumbing company in town...and does HVAC and electrical.
Appears to really stand behind their work...and it's a flat-rate...no matter how long it takes.
They stand behind their work...and the controlled board went out on my heater/AC like 3 years ago...and they thought it was something else...because it was intermittent problem...that would come and go.
It required a 2nd trip...and I didn't even complain...and they just gave me the system controller board...and did not charge at all for the 2nd trip...which impressed me...because that trip was at 2am...on a Friday night.
I also use them for all new plumbing fixture installs/replacements...and they don't care if I bought the faucets myself at Lowe's.
On another trip...Scottco also rewired the master electrical connection on the back of the house to my external AC unit.
I have no connection at all to that company...but I have never seen a cleaner and sharper bunch of techs...than those that Scottco sends out.
When I have work done...I prefer to work with the largest company I can find...because you won't get excuses...and they have the financial resources to handle any problem...and will usually have the parts in stock...at night...and on weekends.

Frank's Repair Plumbing - hands down. I called Frank's this morning at 8am to come look at my heater...it is 3:30pm and I have not heard from them. I am sure they are busy because it is a cold day....but I thought I would get a call by now at least. I am just a bit frustrated and am glad it is not an emergency. Well it may be once I get my heating bill. My heat just runs constantly and will not click off.....I am sure it is my thermostat or something....but having I can not afford to keep my heat running 24-7. I have it off right now with my electric fireplace running and a space heater in my bedroom...but my house is 2 stories and 3200 square feet so that is not really going to keep it warm.....

Call Scottco...and you will hear from them...
Half the time...they found an available tech...and called to see if they could come earlier...than the appointment time...which is great service.
The number I have in my cell phone is 355-4663.
I've never dealt with Frank's before...and you've now given me a reason to not call them.

Frank's finally called at 4:50pm...after I told the lady I had a chiropratic appt at 4:45pm. They did get to my house....and the problem...which is GREAT....is that the idiots who built my house...or installed the heating and air decided to put a unit in my 3200 square foot home that was only big enough to heat a 1000 square foot home. So it was like the little engine that could...it kept trying to heat and heat..and wasn't giving up. So I have to replace my heating system. I set up for Franks to give me an estimate.....I am also going to call Scottco...I have had many people recommend them. I am sure Scottco will come out...give me the estimate and install it way before I hear from Franks again.......

You could nuke the house and keep the existing unit. Build smaller.

No way.....I bought it really cheap....and with what I have done to it....and the value of the houses in my area...I will make a killing when my daughter gets out of highschool. I want to stay in this house for her residency. But I bought it when I was in a long term relationship with Mr. Fix It......now I am trying to get friends to help...hire out...and do whatever I can on my own. Things would have been much nicer if Mr. Fix it didn't decide to go down the road he did.....but life will get better....I have Faith (literally....that is my daughters name )

That being said, you might want to have them check your AC condensing unit and A-Coil as well, as they're probably undersized too. It'll be cheaper to replace them all at once.

Someone else earlier on was asking about plumbers....we just moved it elsewhere....as most threads tend to go......
