I miss Kolache places so much. They're a dime a dozen in South Texas, in Czech country. Opening soon in the Western mally thingy.

Never heard of it.
What sort of food do they offer?
I'm not familiar with Czech...but have had some German sausage and such down south.

west-texan, you can't compare German and Czech. If it is a good kolache place you are in for a treat.

If you are ever in Red River, the baker at Mountain Treasures Coffee Shop makes good kolaches.

Wife and granddaughter went this Friday and said it was extremely average. She thought the food was odd and not likely to catch on in Amarillo.

I have to wonder if Lubbock might have more of an advantage on Amarillo for a restaurant like that.
Since Lubbock has the huge Texas Tech faculty of highly educated and traveled folks.
For Amarillo...where most people never leave the city limits...odd things have trouble catching on.

There are places in Lubbock that have Kolaches, but I don't think they are authentic. I like to go to out of the way local places when I travel. There is this really good Panamanian restuarant in Orlando that I discovered about three years ago. If I want run of the mill chain food, I can just stay home.

My favorite so far is the jalapeƱo cheese sausage. I also like the cinnamon twist bread. I always get a bacon one, though I think it would be better if the bacon was in whole pieces instead of chopped into bits. (Aside, I just watched the Food network show "The Best I've Ever Had: with bacon." I'm craving every darn thing they showed on there. Good show.)
