I saw on the news that Lowes Is planning to build a store next to the wal-mart on Tascosa Road where the Will Rogers Range Riders used to be at!
That part of town is really growing!

I wish they would build a Wal Mart or United down where we live. There is no where to shop off of 58th and Georgia....

I am glad to see growth in this area since when we come to Amarillo we come in on that side of town but I really hope to see a higher level of growth in the business sector soon. Amarillo cannot sustain it's current growth just by being the shopping center of the panhandle.

Nicely said Texin...and very true. Amarillo needs more good, professional jobs....so I can move back home.

Exactly...but the AEDC doesn't see it that way... because they are under the control of the Amarillo old-money bunch... who are afraid of any new business...who might get bigger in Amarillo than they are.

I wish we could get some more industry. My brother and his wife just moved to a suburb of OKC, where they both got a job at Dell Computers. They are fabulous jobs, but they had to move away to get them. I heard about that Lowe's some time ago, first it was on, then it was off...now it's back on. I have a customer that loves at Craig and they seem to be in the know about a lot of things over there! I can't see them building a Market Street right over there though, with the United they already have, unless they remodel that United.

I moved from a yankee state to take a professional job here that amounted to a big step up for my career. Funny to see people saying the same thing about Amarillo.

All this new commercial space in NW Amarillo, and hardly any new housing. It kind of worries me.

There are plenty of new jobs for thoes how are good at "cutting the Cheese" according the the AEDC latest business relocation, Pacific Cheese. Although my kids have this talent they will probably stay at their current jobs in other cities. My son and his wife would love to come back but there are no good engineering jobs.

But how many jobs like yours...actually exist in Amarillo? Not very many...right? And certainly not enough good professional jobs like yours...to stop the Amarillo Brain-Drain...where most of the 4-yr college grads...have to leave town...or work for hourly wage...in a store. The only significant number of professional jobs for 4-yr college grads in Amarillo...are medical and public school teaching.

Hey who says a college graduate can't work at Wal-Mart or Lowes? Better yet, the graveyard shift at Fart-N-Fetchem.
