Y'all have been such a great help whenever I need anything. I have another question that I am hoping someone can help with.
Do you know of any drycleaner or other business that will clean the feathers in pillows and re-tick? My pillows are in need of a good cleaning and new casing.
Thanks in Advance!!!

Honestly I don't know the first thing about cleaning feather pillows, but we've been happy with Doche Cleaners at Bell and Hillside for our routine drycleaning needs. You might call them and ask.

Karen how expensive are new feather pillows?
Just curious... my brother was talking about his allergies the other day... and I told him to make sure his pillows have as few allergens as possible... and about fell out when he told me how long he had his pillow.
Also... is there any reason you choose to have them re-done instead of purchasing new?
I have never been able to use them... so I don't understand WHY he has had this feather pillow as long as he has.

feather pillows are about $60 each. If I told you how long I have had these, you would fall over. I generally get them re-ticked (new casing put on and all feathers cleaned) about every 3 years. I like the squishy aspect of my pillows.

Ok..... going to have to research this...
LMAO!!! Yep...you might have had them a LONG time... but at least you get them cleaned!
SO I take it that it is probably cheaper to get them re-done?

cool..... thanks... if I find someone that does it I will let you know...
Just wonder if I can talk him into giving it up long enough to get it done... LMAO! I can send his daughter in to snag it and put it in my car while I distract him!

I have an admission to make. I only use down pillows, which say on the tag to dry clean only. I have taken it upon myself to throw them in the washer anyway. They come out a squished mess, but then I dry them about 3 times in the dryer. They come out as good as new. I don't know if you would want to try it with feathers, but it works for me with down!

I was reading....and it said it is fine to do that with down pillows....it says to wash and dry them with a tennis shoe (yuck) or a tennis ball and it will stop squishing/bunching.... but because feathers are so waterproof is says have them dry cleaned and reticked.
LOL...I use synthetic and chunk them in the wash once a month... and I just replace them once a year.

At one time I had feather pillows and I have washed them in the washing machine, several times. I then dried them outside on a clothes line, then threw them in the dryer. They held up just fine. I eventually got rid of them because the quills kept poking out.
I'm not sure if it is still open, but there was (or is) a place on Washington street (north of I-40) and on the east side of the street, that did (or does) feather pillows. I cannot remember the intersecting street, but I believe it's opposite a liquor store.
