Hey All
I lived in Amarillo for about 25 years, grew up on the North Side of town, (Ne24th before MLK Blvd) and have to say that there some really good people on the North Side. I remember a post awhile back and it kind of disappointed me... Not all people on the North Side are bad. I really miss Amarillo.. The clean air, the traffic was minimal, and the people were friendly for the most part. The bad thing is that there are no technical jobs there. That’s the part of Amarillo that needs improvement. Now I live in Orange County California, and had to adjust to the city life, and let me tell you its a "Rat Race" out here. The State of California is Gang Ridden, full of illegal aliens that are taking jobs from the true Americans, ( Good jobs I might add) and the cost of living is outrageous. The one thing is that being in the technical field greatly increase your income out here. Hopefully that will happen in Amarillo, so I can get my ' Red Neck" ass back to home.
Yours Truly Homesick Redneck Yoda 8-)

You can always rip cow jaw bones out for $12 an hour at Tyson. I spent over decade at IBP so my kids wouldn't have to. They to grew up on the North side (Eastridge) and have all left for school and jobs. My daughter lives in Orange County (Garden Grove, or Garbage Grove as I call it). She is only 25 and making 6 figure at a biomedical company and is looking to buy a small $750,000 house that would be about $175 here.

My mama lives on the North side and you are right there are good people over there. It is just unfortunate that the city turns their heads when they see the drug dealers and crack ho's taking over that side of town....

There's good people, no matter which side of the tracks you grew up on. It's just the stigma that's attached to the area. I get the same thing because I grew up on the East side and I didn't turn out half bad......well only half.

The cost of living thing reminds me of Flip that House on tv. A quarter million for a no bedroom house. What the hell is that about? I hate to think of what the price of a beer is.

I grew up in Pleasant Valley, and yeah it was Pleasant too, well, it gets a little busy with the drug houses next door, but they are quiet when the come in and leave. I wanted my kids to grow up there too, go to Pleasant Valley school, and live close to me as they became adults. Now I'm on the south side in the country and I can't wait for the kids to move out to the north side
