Didnt he rough up his wife, before their divorce was final?

Didnt he rough up his wife, before their divorce was final? That was the allegation, but he was not indicted.

This could be very interesting. DPS officers have said before that they keep their distance from the Potter County SD.

At what point does the public have the "right" to know the reasons for the investigation?

Probably when they have enough information to take their case before the grand jury.

That Shumate guy has always seemed like a slimeball to me, dating back to when he was running the crime stoppers program for the Amarillo P.D. I have a friend that has been with the APD for at least 10 years now. One day, he was over at my house and Shumate came on the TV, talking about something. Well, my friend just burst out laughing and saking his head. Curious, I probed him a little bit and he responded with, " Dude, if you only knew..." I probed him some more, and he said, " Just wait and see." I can only assume this is what he was referring to....

There's another story this morning that interviews Shumate.

Yep...he blamed it on the ex-wife.... how convenient. I can hear his reasoning now "If she wasn't such a vindictive b!tch and told on me...no one would know about the bribes and kickbacks." Ummm...so is income from bribes and kickbacks considered community property?
