LESS Simpson has run a good newspaper downhill...and run off most of the longtime employees...and eroded the newspaper's quality and public credibility. Simpson's superiors at Morris...in Georgia...are only interested in the bottom financial line....and not quality journalism. Essentially...the AGN is in the protection business....where you can buy advertising from them....and then you are protected from negative news coverage. unCoolarrow....You really shouldn't try to talk about things...you know nothing about. |

WT, I challenge you to post facts to back up what you are saying here. You are cut from the same mold as Cat is. You let your personal hatred of someone come between the actual truth of the matter, which is he's doing fine or Morris would can him.

which is he's doing fine or Morris would can him. Which is probably what happened to Mr. Fairbanks (getting this thread back on topic). It took a bit of time, but it looks like Barrington finally felt it was time to send Mr. Fairbanks packing and get KVII off the path they were on. Personally, I've noticed a drop in the quality of the news coverage over the past couple years. That's too bad because I like the most of the people on channel 7 better than the other stations, with the exception being the handful of very young and obviously experienced people they put in front of the camera. Maybe it's just me getting older, but the number of kids showing up on the local news (on all the channels) is starting to annoy me. |

Back off topic for second ... nah, I don't hate Simpson. I just don't like the way he does business. Plain and simple. Life goes on.
Back to TV news ... don't really watch it so I can't speak about that market. I had met Fairbanks, like I said. Seemed nice enough ... but I am not familiar with whether he was good or bad with the business. I do know TV is cut-throat, though.

I'm in the media. So I can tell you what happened to Lynn Fairbanks. He was asked to resign. It had nothing to do with the newscast. There billing for advertising was down. He was known for cussing out his sale people. And I do mean cussing. All I can say is good riddance. Maybe there moral will get better now.
