Did you see he resigned, effective immediately? (KVII General Manager)
He was pretty involved in nonprofit work since he came to Amarillo, I believe 5 years ago.
TV is a cut-throat business. The story on amarillo.com definitely gives the impression it was a forced resignation.
I wonder how Les Simpson feels about his buddy being axed? Simpson is darn good and free with the old ax, himself.

www.amarillo.com/stories/071907/new_8023984.shtmlThat's all I know ... what I've read. Sounds like ratings might have been an issue. Who knows? I met Lynn a couple of times during some nonprofit work. He's a nice guy, I think. I didn't know him well, though. I just say he and Les Simpson (AGN publisher) are "buddies," although i don't really know that. They came to Amarillo around the same time, as newcomers to the media business, outsiders, etc. They both got involved in nonprofit stuff and did the politically correct thing to do in supporting the United Way and such ...

Dang cats. You still have issues with Les? Just curious why you know so much about his axe?

Just curious why you know so much about his axe? I already told you the story on CR. Yes, I still have issues with him. He has hurt a lot of people with his ego, not to mention the fact that the paper has gone downhill big-time since he took over.

If it has gone downholl, why on Earth is he still around after all these years? Sounds to me like you are jealous of him and maybe his lifestyle.

But thank you for your observation, CA. I like how you are always shooting your arrows at people. What a sweetheart.

Asnwer my question. If he is so terrible, why are the powers that be keeping him around. You don't make blind accusations and not provide facts to back them up.

Because he belongs to the powers that be who do not give a rat's butt about Amarillo or what Amarillo readers want. He is a home-grown corporate boy, here to do in Amarillo what he was groomed to do ... which is not what is best for Amarillo. However, it doesn't matter, because the only motivation of the so-called powers that be (Morris Communications) is making money, and Morris will ride the print journalism gravy train as long as it can. Earning advertising dollars and making advertisers happy is the purpose of the AGN.
Now, if that's the kind of newspaper you want, then Simpson is doing a fantastic job, exactly what he's supposed to be doing ...
I guess it's a matter of perspective.

Those are simply your personal opinions. There is no fact anywhere in your response. You said that he has turned the paper from something good into something bad. If this were the case, revenues would be down and Morris would not keep him around. This is simply a fact, you cannot dispute this fact.

Like I said, it depends on your perspective. I'll be the first to admit that I don't like him, and my opinions are my opinions. Nor do I base my opinion of the newspaper on revenues, which because I do not have access to the finances, I wouldn't know whether it's successful or not. I know across the board that newspapers struggle.
I base my opinion on what I perceive as the quality of the newspaper content.

And opinions are like, well you know. There is no disputing this man is doing the job that he is paid for because he's still there. Why are you so jealous of him anyway?

Jealous? I'm not. I just don't like him. Do you have to be jealous of someone in order to not like them?
I do not like him for the reasons I've already stated and nothing more. Cool Arrow, there is no point in carrying this conversation forward. I think you are trying to needle me into something else, but there's nothing more to say. OK?
Let's just move on now.
