Boomer Sooner is the fight song for the University of Oklahoma written by Arthur M. Alden in 1905. The tune is borrowed from "Boola Boola", the fight song of Yale University. An addition was added a year later from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's "I'm a Tarheel Born"
The name "Sooner" is the nickname for an early squatter or cheat. Guess they "borrowed" the song too.
There is a phrase in the lyrics about "sooner dead."
