Late yesterday afternoon...I saw some vehicles parked right up by the front door to the old Avenue X/Yorks/Caravan.
Wonder what's going on...since I haven't seen a For Sale sign on the place...unless I've missed it.
With no windows...and a very rough parking lot surface...the building isn't good for much more than a nightclub/bar.

Hmmm....the green exterior accent lights were on at this building tonight...so I wonder if that's a sign of something to come for the place.  Wondering what sort of bar or club it could be. Hopefullly it'll be successful enough...that they'll try to smooth the rough parking lot surface a bit. Seems a bit small to be a new location for GCS...and I wonder if the shopping center next door will allow parking at night. |

That building is really a piece of crap. The air circulation is terrible and the toilets are constantly overflowing. They have tried to fix both multiple times, but the same problems continue to re-emerge. That's one of the reasons the resurrection of York Street was so short lived. At the end of the day, it's still the Caravan.

The real dump of a nightclub building...other than GCS...after it started to go downhill...was the old Hackamore Club building down just north of I-27 and McCormick Road...in the 80's.
It was in bad shape then...and that place later turned into The Harem...an all-nude BYOB place.
I never went in there while it was The Harem...but a buddy of mine went there for his friend's bachelor party...and said it was falling down...and the roof was really bad and you could tell it had leaked all over the place.

Yeah, I never have been in that building, but I know which one you are talking about, WT. There is a trailer park right behind it. I was away at college, but I remember hearing there being some type of big controversy between that place and Judge Ted Wood trying to impose his mormon morality and shut the place down. Whatever happened to that dill hole?
