Yep...and something is going on at the old Caravan...because I drove down Olsen about an hour ago...and there were at least 5 vehicles parked right up by the front door to the place.

That building is really a piece of crap. The air circulation is terrible and the toilets are constantly overflowing. They have tried to fix both multiple times, but the same problems continue to re-emerge. That's one of the reasons the resurrection of York Street was so short lived. At the end of the day, it's still the Caravan. Interesting about your comments...and how this afternoon...I was driving...and saw what appeared to be a Scottco service van...parked by a side door...on the east side of the old Caravan place. They definitely appear to be trying to get the building in shape for something. Also...does anyone remember years ago...when Bill Sarpalius was trying to push some tougher DWI laws through in Austin...and the Caravan owner paid a guy to punch him...and it broke his jaw? I don't remember hearing the outcome of that.

Billy wanted that to go away.

Ok...it's interesting how that differs from what was printed in the Globe News at the time...which pinned the assault on the Caravan Club owner...and mentioned Sarpalius' sponsorship of DWI legislation. The AGN published a couple of quick little blurbs...and then the story just disappeared. It was an attack on an elected official...witnessed by several people...and the AGN had to publish something. But...the way the AGN is these days...the story might never make it into the newspaper.

I believe you...and I'm not surprised the AGN covered something up for him.
Should not happen...but then that's small town Amarillo.
Also...I was aware at the time...that he had either been divorced when that happened...or divorced shortly after.

They're now painting the front of the old Caravan Club building...
but what they really need to do...is fix craters in the parking lot...
and put up some lights around the building roof...to light the parking lot better.
Must not be GCS moving in there...because I can't see them spending money to paint...when they went years without painting around their sign at the old Western Plaza location.

Well...last night they reopened the old Caravan building as Doc Holiday's...and claim on their sign...that it's Amarillo's only true country club. But...it looks like they must have had a less than smooth opening...because they had the police out there on the very first night. I was with a friend last night...and between about 12:30 and 1 am...we first saw a police SUV at Doc Holiday's with the lights going...and then saw at least 3 police cars going there. We just saw this by going out last night...and driving down Paramount/Olsen twice...while figuring out if we wanted to go somewhere else. Nothing like getting police calls on an opening night for a new place. Edited to add...that we didn't go into that place.

If there is a place with a dance floor, or a place geared towards the cowboy crowd, there are going to be a lot of fights in this town. It's always been like that.
