I think the owners used to actively manage the place...and since they've turned it over to others...it's really hurting.
They used to have the biggest and best chicken fried steaks in town...but no more.
Now...it's the chewiest chicken fried steaks in town.
The same owners opened that Whistlin' Dixie place...across from the old Santa Fe at 34th and Coulter...and that must have been doomed from the start...with mediocre management.

It is my understanding that the owners of Cattle Call also own Bourbon Street and Macaroni Joe's. They used to own the Santa Fe and All The Fixin's. The individual who started the Cattle Call now owns the Country Barn. We ate there the other night and had some of the best ribs I have ever eaten (except for mine... )

I know this is Cattle Country, but that doesn't always mean that beef products are the best. In the case of ribs, beef ribs are vastly inferior to pork ribs. They don't have as much meat on them, they are tough and they are chewy. Potential restaurant owners, please take note. The reason I bring this up is that I have been served beef ribs at all 3 of the places mentioned in this thread every time and they were terrible. In the case of Whistlin' Dixie, it was the only choice they had that night, so I am not surprised they went belly up.

I notice a horse tack store has gone in the old Country Barn location @ I-40 and Lakeside...
but I'm surprised no one bought it...and turned it into a strip joint called....The Booty Barn. ;D
