Dyer's has great food IMO. I'm not fond of fish, but their other menu items are good and the price is reasonable.

mmm... meatloaf!
They bring in different cooks to prepare/make the fish on Wednesdays, so it isn't the same catfish that you get other days of the week.

The Dyers are going to have some competition later this year. As I understand it, there are plans in play right now for a Rudy's to open up here later this year. People that have lived in Dallas or Austin will know what I am talking about. I'm usually not that big on the chain places, but they will have my BBQ business once they open up here, if it anywhere near as good as the locations I've eaten at in hill country and the metroplex.

We have Rudy's in Lubbock. The food is good, but a bit pricey!

But will Rudys have the Cheers type bar? That makes the food taste really good?

Baybay, That is a good point. I forgot all about the bar at Dyer's. Yeah, that is a great bar they have. I always feel like it is straight out of the Old West.

I have only been on the bar side a couple of times.... but it is cool that you can go in there and have a couple of drinks without having to worry about freaky guys hitting on you...

Cattle Call was good until about 8 or 10 years ago...when it was like the management or ownership changed.

Their onion rings are like eating half cooked dough.
