Oh yeah! They are pretty fast with the pizza also. My favorite part of this restaurant was when my fiance bit into their pizza and looked at me funny. He asked: "Is this really a tomato in their sauce?"....Poor guy, you know he was a pizza hut hog before this!

The local places usually use Tomato Sauce that is mixed from a powder. When I was in HS, I worked for a while as a pizza delivery person at both Mr. Gatti's and Pizza Hut. They would take their packages of dried tomato paste powder, dump it into a trash can, and mix it up with a hose. That is one of the reasons it tends to be so mediocre. The tomato sauce is also an important aspect in the construction of a pizza, just like the topping. There needs to be real, fresh sauce, though, and not a premixed paste. This is such a complete and utter fabrication. I got emails from Pizza Hut and Gatti's corporate offices today in reply to my asking them about this. They said that no franchise would ever be allowed to use a sauce that was powder based. These two chains have sauces that are proprietary and made exclusively for them and then canned. You should not come on here and tell lies like this.

I worked for Pizza Hut briefly in college. Yes: a powdered spice packet was put into a tomato sauce. They may have changed the way they do it now, but that's the way it was done 12 years ago.
Let's try not to get our feelings hurt, now. What are you calling the companies for? Are you a stockholder?

Putting a spice packet in tomato sauce is considerably different that taking powdered tomatoes and mixing your sauce in a trash can with a water hose as was related in a prior post.

I contend that was how their sauce was made when I worked there back in 1992. I don't really know how they do it today, but it would surprise me quite a bit if they did it any differently now. It still tastes horrible.
Honestly, what would my motivation be for making something like this up, foolsparrow? I have nothing to gain by making something like that up? OTOH, what would these 2 corps. gain by denying something like this? Think about it.
Seriously, you need to lay off those late friday night meth binges.
