I would have been 10. More than likely walking up there or coming in with my grandma. Usually weekday mornings early. If not the chocolate donuts were gone.

Oh ... I didn't work then. During the summer times that I worked, I had basketball workout during the mornings and early afternoons, so I didn't go in until later afternoons, and stayed til closing. Of course, we all worked all day on Saturdays ... which were the most fun days, except the getting up early part.
During school, I worked after school until basketball started, then had to quit for that.
Belmar Bakery and Doodles, two of the best teenager jobs ever ...

I remember Rick very well...from Belmar Bakery.... He was that little snot-nosed punk...who was always wearing his jacket...even though it was 85 degrees outside. And...when you weren't looking....he was stuffin' chocolate donuts in zip-lock bags.

You know, I always liked Belmar Bakery as a kid. Later as a teenager, I had a couple of friends that worked there and decided to quit eating there due to all of the disgusting things they did to the baked goods there. Let's just say that the cream in the eclairs....no, on second thought, some things are best left unsaid.
I don't eat that kind of stuff today. There is just too much refined sugar and butter in those things.

Whatever disgusting things you're saying they did ... not on my watch. However, because the previous owners didn't seem to be around much, I can see how it would happen. I would bet the new owners are a little more hands-on than previously.

I would bet the new owners are a little more hands-on than previously. This would have been roughly 1990-1992, so I'm sure you had already moved on to bigger and better things by then. I do know there was some type of resentment with the owner, I think a lady at the time, who they disliked immensely. Perhaps it had something to do with being an absentee owner. I just don't eat those kinds of foods any more. I quit eating all things with too much processed sugar and butter about a year ago. When you don't eat those types of foods for a while, you stop craving them and they begin to repulse you. I have the same problem with fast food.

All sugar is processed. I think you mean refined sugar. Sorry, Jeebus, let me clarify. When I say processed, I mean anything that has been processed-or refined- by human hands. This means, say granulated sugar vs. naturally occurring sugars like fructose in fruits.
