I'd suggest you tell the bakery directly rather than just trashing them here. Maybe you could get some sort of satisfaction from them. You might be surprised.

Yep, this is the first complaint I've ever heard about the place.

I've never had problems there. We go there for their sandwiches and goodies.

Obviously, they do not produce world class baked goods, but I've never experienced a "horrible" cookie from them. Sounds like you got a bad batch, or you and your co-workers have different tastes. Belmar Bakery has always been a solid neighborhood joint... their stuff is definitely a step above grocery store baked goods, but not on the level of Franks or Village.

I live for their chocolate raisin bars. The service can be a bit stinky at times but overall, I love Belmar. The only thing they ever screwed up was a cake frosted like the Texas state flag. Being as we are in Texas, I didn't think I needed to provide a picture. Wish I would have! When it comes to bakeries, my only beef is with Frank's. One of the ladies there was real nasty with me once when I asked her about a particular bread. She kept yelling "It's bread, it's bread, it's bread." After telling her where she could put the bread, I left and have never been back.

Hi, Hoparillo, glad to see you posting.
Belmar Bakery was the first job I ever had. Started working at age 15, and it was the most fun "teenager" job I ever worked. The owners are different now, of course, but the cookies are the same. There weren't sandwiches or anything back then.
I personally love the cookies. They are bakery cookies, not gourmet or homemade, but they're good. I love the ones you mentioned, plus the thumbprint cookies. Those are my favorites.

Really, then you would have seen me a lot as a kid in the summer. I always came in and got either 2 or 3 chocoalte donuts during the week.

I like their iced cookies. Great for a sugar rush! What are Frank's hours? Seems as if everytime I have ever driven by there, the place looks closed for the day. We went to Village yesterday for yummy treats.

Belmar has the best cakes that I've had, so far. The only problem is that the icing isn't consistent each time -- occasionally, it's smoother and more buttery, whereas it's usually stiff and ultra-sweet. Tasty sweet. A few years ago, their cakes were often dry, but as of late, they're moist and delicious. =)

Hard to recognize you then, Rick! LOL! Really, everyone knew who I was. They usually had my stuff bagged up and ready to go before I could pay. Gosh I miss those donuts.

I guess it depended on what time of day you usually came in. (What are you trying to say, Rick?)

I was successful in saying that most everyone there knew who I was.

Sorry ... I didn't. I bet you were a funny little kid. I was just a teenager who worked part time around sports seasons.
