There were two of us, told wait would be 1:15 min. Waited about 1:20 -30, so not to far off. Would suggest reservations.
One party of 5-7 was on the wait list just after us, and were told the same wait time, but waited a good 45 min. longer before being seated. When they were seated, they then waited another 30 minutes without service. They left. That I hate to see
There was also one “Important” party of two seated soon after arrival. They were fist informed, that though expected, they would need to be put on the waiting list (after us.) He asked to talk to “Ms. Celebrity Chef” who he must have known or had dealings with (or bribed), at any rate it worked. So if you are “someone,” you may not need reservations.
First course, Bruschetta, OK, not best I have ever had, but OK.
Steak was tender & tasty, done nice solid medium. Was ordered med rare, but some people receiving the same steak after ordering medium, might have thought it to rare. I accept that steak cooking is not an exact science and don’t get worked up over these things, I just happen to be an expert.
Would have gotten a second glass of wine if offered 5-10 minutes earlier. Asked about bread service at the time I was offered another glass of wine, waitress said if we wanted bread we could have it, but to get bread you have to ask. Was almost finished with my steak, so did not ask. If you want bread, ask early.
Wait between entrée and coffee / dessert was about 30 minutes. Bit long. Desserts were fair, I do not care for fake whip cream, nuff said.
There was a large table of very loud patrons near us, way to loud. Would prefer to see the “grill” part of the place more refined and quieter than the “saloon.” But the dinning room only added to the noise level. Also would like to see a staff that can handle noisy patrons. Two separate tables asked to move outside onto the patio because of the noise.
The restaurant is new, sign on the door says if you want a great experience, wait and come back in a month or so, after the kinks have been worked out. Hopefully all will be, but it will be four months or so till I can get back. So, in the mean time, I would love to hear what others have to say on its progress. That way I will be able to judge how much of my restaurant budget I should blow in San Francisco between getting off the ship next and coming home.
Last note. They say there will be a Sunday Brunch, Monday Night Football, Poker Night and “Thersday Night Ladies.” Someone needs to keep an eye on this and let me know about that last one. Might just be something for a sailor to look forward to coming home too!
