I was wondering the same thing....I read the write up in the Globe today...I didn't realize they were there. I am a big fan of the Sushi but have only had it at Sakura and from Market Street.

I like it, but I have friends who talk like it's the 2nd coming. Salad with the ginger dressing is great. Some of the symphony people who are from NY and Europe say it's great.

My favorite sushi in town is definitely Kabuki. They fly in the highest quality fresh fish, and have the most skilled chefs in town. Atmosphere is great at the new location. I highly recommend it. I haven't tried Young's yet, but hear good things about it. Sakura's sushi is definitely a few notches below Kabuki. I bet that Young's will come in somewhere in the middle.

I use to frequent Young's when it first open. Good service and the food was fun to experiment with. Then new waitresses came in and there was definitely a language barrier made only more difficult by their innability to provide service. Stopped going back. Maybe we should all hook up there one day after work to check it out again.

OK, I tried this for the first time for lunch today. (Actually, I tried to get sushi at Kabuki and found out they have switched to sushi at dinner only) I have to say I was definitely underwhelmed by my experience there. I'll definitely go back and try some different things, but from what I tasted (young special roll, unagi roll, catapiller roll) I was not that impressed. The fish is obviously previously frozen, NOT fresh. But, I expected that based on what I've heard about the place.
The quality was not that much better than the stuff you can grab from the grocery store. The rice is not the quality I expect from a skilled sushi chef, and the final product is on the watery / flavorless side when it comes to the seafood.
The bottom line is that the best sushi comes from REAL JAPANESE sushi chefs who have the budget to order the highest quality fresh seafood. This is the reason we have very limited options in the panhandle. (Lack of demand, coupled w/ landlocked location) Kabuki overcomes this obstacle by selling lots and lots of fried rice / teppan yaki which funds the sushi operation.

I love the cooked stuff at Kabuki... but since they cook it tableside...you go away smelling like the place...to everyone else. I remember going with a work group to Kabuki at lunch...and we couldn't find a girl in our bunch...because she was in the restroom. When we got back...I walked by her cubicle to say hi... and she immediately jumped on me....and said...You turds went to Kabuki...and didn't invite me!!! I played innocent...and said we tried to find her...and asked how she knew where we went... and she said she could smell me...when I walked in the office suite door...from the hallway.

Wow....you waited almost a year to go try the place. ;D
I haven't been there myself...and I wonder what they offer besides the raw stuff.
Do you remember anything else on the menu?

Yes, I wait a year but am a man of my word and finaly went. They have all the typical sushi including cooked stuff like California roll and eel role. They also have some other cook Japnese stuff like Tempura, Katsu etc... The owners appear to be Laos or Thai so they have a good assortment of Thai dishes and soup as well although I did not try any.
