Parked by there tonight...and they have a notice poster in the window @ 702 Taylor...saying they have applied for a TABC alcohol sales permit. That building is being renovated...and is the old John Fountain Tailor location. As you can see from the picture...that building has an enclosed courtyard with trees. I'm wondering if this will be a bar/club...or restaurant. They should be able to have a cool outdoor area in that courtyard.

That's cool...
I had never noticed the trees and courtyard area back there...until last night.
I need to get over and look at the KVII website more.
Edited to add:
Also...in the early to mid 70's...the guy who used to run the tailor shop there...ran a hotel downtown...called the Fountain Inn.

I noticed last night...that this place has finally taken down their big white sign in the window about applying for a liquor license...so maybe this means they got approved and will be opening soon.
They've had chairs and tables unpacked inside...and their exterior awning signs done for a while.

This place is now open and I saw people in there tonight...and they appear to be open late...or at least they were tonight.
The Guitar Guy told me tonight...that he heard from 2 or 3 sources...that they thought the food was good.
Has anyone on this board been there yet?

My boss went to lunch on Friday, he said "Eddie" is very helpful. That this is his 3rd location (the other two in dfw area). He had the spagetti, and it was good; so not sure about variety. I'll have to find a sitter and take the old man, and then I'll report back!

Food was mediocre, but none of us had the pizza. I'd be curious to see how it is. Service was horrible.

I had great service. The food was good, but just short of very good. I'll definately give it another shot.

Went there tonight. Had Vickey's Special, a chicken dish in a wine sauce with spinach and mushrooms on pasta. It was very good. My SO had a chicken and shrimp dish in a (I think) brandy sauce with pasta. She liked it a lot. We also split a desert of chocolate mousse cake. It was also very good.
We had an appetizer of stuffed mushrooms which consisted of 4 mushrooms in a bowl of wine sauce. I don't recommend it.
With the exception of the stuffed mushrooms, we felt like the quality was excellent ,the prices were reasonable and the portions were large.
It was crowded and fairly noisy but the service was good.
We look forward to going back.
