Chinese & American restaurant closed?

Anyone notice that the Chinese & American Food restaurant on Western has closed? What's the deal? I must admit that I never ate there, but it's practically a landmark.

Also... I noticed that the Caribbean Ice stand on 45th and Western is gone. Are they moving somewhere else this spring, or are they gone? That would make me kind of sick, as their shaved ice is the best I've ever had. I know they were bought by new owners last year ... I hope they didn't mismanage it.

Wow...I don't think I've eaten in that Chinese place since I was in HS.

That would have probably been like the end of summer 1980...and I was with my parents...and some family friends...who were up here from Lubbock.

I hate to see a long-time business shut down.

About shaved ice...is that what they have at those Bahama Buck's places...with one on Western and one on Bell?

The Bahama Buck's places...have the neon palm tree out front.

But does anyone else remember eating Chinese in the old Ding How place on the east end of the Boulevard...next to the Tantalus Surplus barn?

The building is still there...and very dilapidated...but still recognizable.

That was probably in the early 70's...when I was in elementary school...and my parents would take us there to eat.

I think so. I haven't been there, though. It's better than regular snow cones because the ice is actually like snow, not grainy and icy. Not sure how many other places have similar ice.

I drove by the Ming Palace/Chinese & American tonight and it was open, despite the realty/for sale (?) sign in the parking lot. Now I really wanna know what the deal is.
