I heard that they will reopen with the same owners as yet another steakhouse...the bar will remain the same, with live music etc. It seems they just wanted to get out of the franchise fees, etc.

I'm assuming the owners must have been local...because I drove by and looked a the place late this afternoon...
And it looks like they did a complete 180 degree turnaround in the place.
From New Orleans French Quarter style to Amarillo local.
Did they completely change up their menu...like they did the concept of the place?
Also...about franchise fees...a lot of the stuff in Amarillo is franchised...but the owners are not living in Amarillo.
I say that because I once heard the local Arby's franchise owner is in Louisiana.

Has anyone eaten here... Since they essentially did a 180 on their business approach...and changed almost everything? I did notice in the AGN Get Out section Friday...that they did have live music listed for like Saturday...under Music Outlook. We now need a scouting report on this place. Maybe Rick will get off his butt and go try them...instead of hanging out at Pizza Hut Wing St on Georgia.

I think it's owned by the Cattle Call people (along with Mac Joe's too) - if that is the case I will only go there after several very positive reviews.

When the original owners of Cattle Call were still involved...I was pleased with the food and service I got there...and quite often the lady taking your money as you left...was the owner guy's wife...and I often saw him there as well. Calico County was also a great place to eat...when the original owners were still involved...and it was all you could eat cinnamon rolls...while you were waiting for your food. Does anyone remember the name of the place that was there on 45th...next to Buck's? That was also a good place to eat...back years ago...before it became Montana Mike's.

Went there for lunch. BLECH! Never again.
The interior is much lighter than when in was Bourbon street, it was soo dark in there before with the velvet curtains and low lighting. Seems very open and brighter now. Pictures and stuff hanging on the wall are all western theme. (pics of cowboys roping cows, big metal lone star, flag..etc)
The menu is downright insulting. I think that they are trying to be cute, but it just rubbed me the wrong way. What the heck is "caddie" gravy? (the side items are called "vittles", it isn't salad and salad dressing .. it is rabbit food and dressin.. it isn't starters/appetizers.. it is horse devours. )
Hubby had the Burger with smoked gouda cheese and fries. The fries are dipped in batter and fried, okay, but I like them just fried. Hubby said that his burger didn't have much flavor to it.
I had salmon (grilled) with loaded baked potato and fried okra. The salmon was dry. Baked potatoes are hard to mess up.. so no problem there. Okra.. oh.. the okra. I love fried okra. I HATED their fried okra. The batter was wrong and ruined the whole purpose of eating fried okra.. to TASTE the okra.
Service was horrible despite being only 6 tables with patrons.
We will not return.
oh yeah.. most things have green chilies in them.. so if you don't like green chilies (like us).. it is hard to find chili free items.

I never ate at Bourbon Street and I bet i'll never go into this place before it closes up. (sounds like it won't be long if your experience was not an isolated one)
I generally don't order salmon in Amarillo. most places serve previously frozen fish and overcook it. (except OHMS)
But, I can't believe you don't like green chile. but, again most places around here serve canned and low quality chile. I mail order mine from a place in new mexico once a year and they are great. Between that and 2-3 trips to santa fe / Taos every year I get my fix.
Thanks for the info. We won't be going.

I like the salmon at David's, Big Texan and Zookini's and figured it was a pretty safe bet. Guess I was wrong.
