So yesterday I went to get my son's car inspected. I pull into the Jiffy Lube and tell them I want a oil change and inspection done. Well they proceed with the oil change suggesting I also need a new pvc valve, tire rotation, fuel filter, and a couple of other things I lost interest in listening to. I told them no to all except the tire rotation. Then they came back and said they couldn't do the inspection because I needed a new drive train belt (I think that's what they called it). I asked them to show me what they were talking about, so they did. It did look a little worn, so I asked them to replace it and finish the inspection. Okay.... Then they come back and say they can't do the inspection because my power steering is leaking and the power steering is going out. WTF!!! No my power steering is not leaking and works just fine. I politely ask them if I neglected to wipe the "stupid" off my forehead before I came in. They gave me a song and dance about this is just why they won't inspect it, unless I pay to have it fixed. Whatever! I told them to step away from the car, otherwise I was fixing to go extremely postal. I canceled all of the work I had originally told them to do, paid for the oil change, they had already completed, went down the street and low and behold had my car inspected. With no problems at all! I am so sick of men treating women this way! I'm not a libber in the least, but I do expect to be treated with the same respect I show. If my husband was to have taken that car to them, I bet it would of been inspected right away. Needless to say I will never give Jiffy Lube on 34th & Bell my business again! Would it be considered rude if I take the car back up there, point out the new inspection sticker, and take a line from Bruce Willis and yell Yippee Ki Oh Mother F.....?

Are you trying to imply that you are not a dumb airhead blonde? ;D Seriously...that's why guys should always make sure their wives or daughters...understand the basics of how a car works...and where things are...under the hood.

Now call the state and report their sorryass. I had this happen to me several years ago at a different business. When they told me that they couldnt inspect my car unless they changed my air filter, I told them to forget it. I got in my car and drove off and stopped at the nearest telephone and called the state and made a complaint. The next week, the were NOT inspecting cars anymore. Their inspection sign was off the building.

My husband and I have also used this "women are dumb about cars" mentality to our advantage. He races cars, and on occasion we have something that really shouldn't pass inspection - say the exhaust system not being restrictive enough. I then take the cars in, and the teeny bopper mechanics assume I am too dumb to have done such a thing to my car. Voila - a sticker!
Funny though - Then I have taken my actual car in before, and they wanted $25 for a light bulb above my license plate. Another mechanic saw then trying to scam me, came over and pulled the light bulb back down into the correct place. Apparently the first one pushed the bulb back up into the socket and was going to charge me for a new bulb and the installation fee. The second mechanic glared at the other guy, and I got my sticker.

I'm not implying anything....I'm stating it as a fact. I am not a airhead blonde!!!!! I have always fixed my own vehicles, so I have extra parts sometimes, it always worked.

IMO,
I haven't reported them as of yet, but my husband called and ripped the guy a new one and has a call into the owner. Funny they were out yesterday when he called twice. Haven't heard from them today either. I need to do some reasearch, but it's my understanding that the things they failed the car for was things that shouldn't of even been checked?

It is the one on 34th near Bell. Next to the sonic & Braums. Pit Stop on I-40 and Grand. You can walk next door and eat at Chicho's while they inspect your car and change the oil. Never tried to sell me anything other than what I asked for.

I actually use to go to the Pit stop when I lived on that side of town, but now that I live in Bushland, that drive is just not one I want to make. I found some interesting information about Jiffy Lubes in general, which just reiterates why you shouldn't give them your business. www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/jiffy_lube_damage.html

I remember using Jiffy Lube in Lubbock several years ago to have the automatic transmission oil changed in my Grand Prix. When I drove off, my car would not shift gears, so I made the block and drove back to the business.
I told them the problem, and their first question to me was "Would it shift before you brought it in?". They put my car back in and the mgr/owner went under to see what the problem was.
He told me that when they changed my transmission oil, that they didn't have the correct filter, so the mechanic didn't put a filter in.
I told them to clean up the old filter as much as possible, put it back in and REFUND my money. The owner said that he couldn't refund for the oil that they would have to put in my transmission.
I WENT BALLISTIC.
Well, to make a LOUD story short, they put my old filter back in the transmission, put fresh transmission oil in, (I stood there with the mgr and watched) and REFUNDED my money.
