Slamarillo

In response to another thread, here's information on Slamarillo, Amarillo's Slam Poetry group. Slam poetry is performance poetry. It's powerful, exciting and raw. Many of the Amarillo poets are young but certainly not all. Their website is slamarillo.com. There's some amazing talent in this group, both literary and performance-wise. Their monthly Slam is on the last Saturday of each month at the Amarillo Repertory Theatre in Sunset Center. You can also see some of them at Final Friday, the Open Mic night at Acapulco's Restaurant on the last Friday of each month, and at any other open mic venue they can find.

Slam Poetry is something that can't really be fully described. It has to be experienced.
