This Friday, November 16, at 8:00 PM, the Amarillo Civic Chorus will perform its Fall concert at the Amarillo Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts. The 80+ voice choir, composed of residents of Amarillo and the surrounding area, will be under the direction of Dr. Steven Weber.
The featured work to be performed will be Maurice Durufle's "Requiem." Other numbers include "On the Wings of the Wind" by Daniel Gawthrop, Morten Lauridsen's "Sure on This Shining Night" and two spirituals arranged by Moses Hogan.
The chorus will be accompanied by Dr. Noel-Paul Laur and select musicians of the Amarillo Symphony.
Tickets are $12 and $7 for students and seniors and are available through Panhandle Tickets, 378-3096.

I believe that same night is the Nutcracker Ball, which I am being dragged to, kicking and screaming.
That's the thing about cold weather time: There are definitely more "arts" things going on ... seem to be, anyway.

Probably because most "arts" performance groups take the summer off and resume rehearsals in late August. They tend to be ready for performance about the time the weather is cooling off, as you say.
