I have been busy getting back into the swing of school, but here are the latest movies I have seen.
Juno- I really like Ellen Page! I liked her after the Xmen series and really liked her after Hard Candy. (check it out if you haven't seen it- but don't watch with young children). The writing is spectacular with lots of great lines. The music is so original and interesting. I wasn't sure about the actor that plays Paul Bleeker, I think I would have gone a different way. Great movie!
The Bucket List- I am not a fan of Jack Nicholson, but in this movie he shows his sensitive side. Morgan Freeman is amazing (as usual). I don't know if they actually went on location to shoot these scenes, but if they didn't they sure look like they did. A nice kick in the pants, organize your priorities, buddy-type movie.
Cloverfield- If you didn't like the Blair Witch project shakiness, you won't like this either. We see the movie through what was recorded as the alien? attacked Manhattan. We follow a group of people attending a party and how they react to seeing the monster and countless friends die in the attack. I wasn't impressed. I can't put my finger on it, but seems like something was missing.
The Kingdom- this has more stars than I initially remembered. Tries to shed some light on the relations between US and Saudi relations. This movie seems very realistic, it COULD happen. great movie. Very intense!
Have a great week!

I knew it...they're gonna boot Richard Roeper...so it can be Ebert & Karen... I think Jack is legitimately a little bit nuts...or he just loves to play nutty people.

If I could review movies AND have Samantha Brown's job (from the Travel channel).. that would ROCK!

Karenew, Have you seen 'The Kite Runner' yet? I really enjoyed the book, but I haven't spoken to anyone who has seen the movie. I'm usually disappointed in the movie's rendition, but I heard that it was nominated for several awards.

I just finally got around to watching Flags of Our Fathers. While it was very educational and, to a degree, moving, I'm still not sure how I feel about it.
We don't see many movies in the theater. Instead, we record them to the DVR once they hit our Suddenlink movie channels.
A few weeks ago we finally saw The Departed. Now that was an incredibly enjoyable, well-written, awesomely produced, talently acted, marvelously edited, action-packed piece of excellent story-telling!

With the Marine Corps sacrifice at Iwo Jima in WWII...that should be extremely moving to someone.
Have you ever seen the big monument in Washington D.C.?
If you're ever in the Houston area...go walk the decks on the battleship Texas...because it was at both Iwo Jima and D-Day.
These days...if you see the name Clint Eastwood associated with a movie...it's a very good movie to see...with lots of meaning.

Hey W-T ... I should have elaborated ... I feel the movie could have been MORE moving had they done more character development on the front-end of the movie so as they flashed back and forth, you had a better idea of who was who. Yes, I've seen the big monument in Washington, D.C. but I did not have a full appreciation of it at the time. I hope to go back again now that I understand better all that it stands for and the history behind it. I've also had the opportunity to walk the decks on the battleship Texas. I kept reflecting on that experience while watching the men inside their bunks during that movie. It's still unreal to me how they could live in quarters like that.
I was very happy that Eastwood took the time and consideration he did to bring this story to us.

I know that The Devil Wears Prada is just another chick flick, but I bought it the other day and I really like it. A male friend watched it with me and he liked it. Now that was really cool because I didn't think most men get into movies like that.
