High School Football Forecast Week Ten

Last week of regular season. A handful of games will tell who plays on and who stays home.

Amarillo High - Lubbock...old, traditional game....some of the older folks might remember the passenger trains they ran for fans to attend these games. Amarillo has too much for Lubbock this time. Sandies should have impressive win.

Coronado - Tascosa...The Rebels don't have quite enough for the Mustangs. Pick Coronado.

Pampa - Palo Duro...hmmmm, on other boards I have detected some disatisfaction with the Harvester program. For the kids sake I hope all is well. I would say this is a coin flip pick. Coin sez th' Dons.

Caprock - Randall...Raiders are going into the play-offs with a win over the Horns.

Hereford - Dumas...this could be a very good game. The Cows will ding the Demons for Dumas.

Frenship - Estacado....for the championship of Loop 289... Tigers top Mats.

Dalharat - Canyon....Canyon cruises.

Perryton - Borger...Perryton gets the nod.

Panhandle - Spearman...Panthers should win the cat fight.

West Texas High - Canadian...whatever Canadian wants it to be....

Fritch - Stratford....this will be a ball game. Fritch's speed vs. Stratford's error free ball control. I'd buy a ticket. Fritch can win it but I don't think they know they can. Stratford knows they can win it... I'll go with Stratford to get the W...Welks Win..

River Road - Dimmitt...neither team will have to worry about the cold weather workouts for play-offs. River Road will take it to the gym with one last victory.

Highland Park - Tulia...HP's suffering will be over and their season will be a perfect 0-10. The biggest season accomplishment for HP is they scored 7 points. Tulia takes the win and goes looking for Canadian.

Friona - Muleshoe...Muleshoe will have more footbals in the air than SW Airlines has planes...The Mules Air Force wins.

Abernathy - Childress...long way from Abernathy to Childress...even further back when you have to carry a "L" home. Bobcats bop Lopes.

Sunray - Vega...Sunray wins.

Gruver - Booker......Booker has nine streets that intersect with the highway. A sign entering Booker says, "Next Nine Exits...Booker." Gruver will leave Booker via one of these exits carrying the "W"

White Deer - Boys Ranch...Roughriders get roughed up by Bucks.

That's about all I have time for this week. Good luck to all the teams.

Herd/ Dumas.... Herd lost a heart breaker... i feel bad for the Demons

Pampa/PD- last year the Harvesters won in a good way.... not this year

Appreciate and understand your picks harvesterpride....regardless of the program, I often make some sharp comments on the picks... While I don't want of offend which I probably do, I really hope for the kids the best.

I don't know enough to discuss the Pampa program in detail....I just want the kids to have the best opportunity to do the best...

all i want is for the kids as well SJ... believe me i respect the Coach i disagree with the way he is handling thing but on a bright side almost if not all of his issues can be fixed they are mostly just issues of immaturity. i just hope that Pampa's raging fans and upset parents dont run him off like they did the last coach... im curious to see what he does next after two straight years of missed opportunities

Borger vs. Perryton - It really does depend on which Borger shows up for this game. Have any of you seen their quarterback? That kid has got to one fo the fastest if not the fastest runner in the northern panhandle. If Borger's offensive line would ahve stepped up any against Dalhart that game would have been a completely different event. We just crashed through every play and practically were in his face by the time he had the snap. He was able to roll out about threee times and each of those times he scrambled for at least 20ish yards. He doesn't have the best arm but I don't think that would be a factor. Perryton has had trouble against runs this year. One of Dalhart's TDs against them came from the quarter back having to roll out of the pocket and scramble. If they couldn't stop our quarter back then they better figure something out before Borger takes advantage of that. Perryton also has an eleven year streak hanging on their shoulders. Borger I think has lost their desire to even go to playoffs. I can't even begin to predict this game though. I'd say more likely than not Perryton would win with a 2TD cushion but if Borger shows up this could get flat out ugly.

Now Canyon vs. Dalhart - I think enough was said Teusday night in that parking lot.

As far as Pampa...they've got to realize that very few coaches' sons are ever as successful as their dad was at the same school.

Also...ever since the Cavalier thing...Pampa has been on this Lifetime Coach thing...

where they think every coach is going to come and stay forever at Pampa...which is nonsense.

That's why they got upset when that Parker guy...quickly jumped to a better job.

They need to realize he took that job to be the football coach...but not The Forever Football Coach.

Quit expecting coaches to come and stay forever...because the world has changed...and it no longer happens.

Also...I was so glad WTAMU chose to not hand the women's basketball coach job...down to the coach's son.

Handing a coaching job down to a son...is so 1950'ish.

Dennis Cavalier spoiled Pampa...by staying forever...and now Pampa has a lot of growing up to do...when it comes to coaches.

yes but running a coach off before they have a chance to establish a program isnt the answer either....
they did that with wood and i truly believe he could have done some serious good here.

but for the most part i agree with you i was one of the ones saying not to hire a man because of his name hire him for his credentials
