Will WTAM win its 3rd straight title?
Will ACU or MSU topple them?
Is Tarleton a contender or pretender?
Was last year a fluke for TAMUK?
Was last year a fluke for ASU, or was 2005?
Is ENMU going to become the cellar dweller?
Will a North team ever make the playoffs again?
Will SEO win just enough to be good, but not good enough?
Will TAMUC have an offense this year (look out for QB Terry Mayo)?
Will SWO breakthrough? and if so, will Ryan Held head on to greener pastures like he did at OPSU?
Will NSU ever be close to the teams that had in 99 & 00?
Will ECU win a game?
Will UCO get hit with the harshest penalties ever for a D2 school?
Or, is it too early to have some fun and guess?

Will WTAM win its 3rd straight title? Not likely because of offensive coaches leaving... Lee Hays put together a high-scoring potent offense in 2005....and the WT offense had to take up the slack for a weak WT defense... but when Hays left for Baylor...the WT offense in 2006...was half of what it was in 2005...and the defense had to take up the slack. Now...Ben Noonan has also left for Baylor...so the WT offense in 2007...will most likely be even less than what it was in 2006. Both ACU and MSU will most likely be the LSC teams to beat in 2007. It was painful to see the high-scoring offense go away in 2006...and 2007 will be even tougher.

Another big question in 2007...will be if McBroom will market and advertise WT football...
as it was also painful to see the large 2005 crowds...go away in 2006...because of no marketing effort.

Get Amarillo National Bank to step up and give away tickets again. The homecoming giveaway gave the 2005 attendance about a 1,500 boost to the average attendance. Otherwise it was much closer. The South Dakota game should draw well and the LSC South schedule will be the same as 2005 and should do at least as well if you take out the ticket giveaway.

Let's talk about attendance. I gathered some information from gobuffsgo.com for the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
Total attendance: 2005 79,506 2006 74,461 Average attendance 2005 13,176 (6 games) 2006 10,637 (7 games)
Ok, let's take out the 8,000 free tickets that were given away in 2005.
Total paid attendance: 2005 71,506 2006 74,461 Average paid attendance: 2005 11,843 (6 games) 2006 10,637 (7 games)
When comparing paying customers, attendance fell by 1,206 per game. Now this was after a great year in 2005. 10-2 record, playoffs, LSC championship. You would think that with that to build on that paid attendance would increase.
The average home attendance for 2005-2006 was 11,809, and they are talking about building a 12,000 seat stadium on campus. I think this shows that the athletic administration does not plan to ever promote and build attendance. What do they do with their time?

Pretty obvious...that a lot of people forgot about the 2005 success... because NO marketing and advertising was done in 2006 for football... to build on that success...and remind people. When you've only had 2 winning seasons in recent years...you've got to remind people of your success. That's a basic marketing principle...that they taught me in class at WT. Gotta remind your consumers/fans.

Abilene looks to be solid again. They have to top returning passing QB, their top two rushers, and top receiver coming back. They also have what looks to be a solid recruiting class, led by JC AA's Bernard Scott at RB, Johnny Knox (HM) at WR, and John Olie (HM) on the DL. Keep and eye out on Frosh Fred Thompson at LB, if not this fall, in the future.
Midwestern State lost the better passer of their QB tandem, but Danile Polk is quite an athlete. He will have a big target on his back, as three of the top 4 RBs are gone, possibly allowing defenses to key on him. While his passing needs to improve, he does have the top 2 returning WRs coming back. Defensively, MSU loses a lot - 6 starters, including the # 2,4,5,6,& 11 in tackles, the top 2 in tackles for loss, the top sacker, and top inteceptor. Recruiting didn't appear to replace the RB position immediately, but the defense was bolstered with immediate help expected at the DL, LB and secondary positions. This is a team that could go either way.
