Rumors have been confirmed by AGN. WTAM is planning to build on-campus football stadium.
I will be very interested to see specifics as to amenities and capacity.
I think it will be a vast improvement, but not really sure until more is known.

Rumor has it...they want to go smaller...or about the size of D1ck Bivins Stadium...which I disagree with.
Seems like it may be an attempt to forever lock WTAMU into Division 2...and prevent us going back up to D1.
For me to give my approval...it would have to come with extensive written guarantees about a future climb back up to D1 or D1AA...and guarantees and diagrams/drawings showing how it could be expanded and by how many seats.
I am also totally opposed to abandoning our traditional stadium...until they publicly post the so-called engineering assessment that was supposedly done on Kimbrough...and provide to the public and alumni...the cost estimates for all alternatives....so the alumni and public can be part of the decision process.
It appears that a very small group has already made a decision to trash Kimbrough...and are now just looking for excuses to justify that.
* The engineering assessments need to be publicly posted by WTAMU employees...
* This is far too important an issue to be trusted to un-documented rumors...
posted by non-WTAMU employees...who think they know it all about WT...like that ras619 character...who floats around online boards.
* Any and all information on this sensitive issue...needs to come directly from WTAMU to be trusted as valid information.
>>>> So...WTAMU get us the information on this issue...printed in the Amarillo Globe News. <<<<
The public and alumni need to have complete information...and not just online rumors from ras619.

I find this possibility of a new stadium on campus most interesting. I could sit here and make a list of pros and cons for such project and could justify each. I'll look forward to hearing more.

New stadium....bad idea. Upgrades are something you could sell me on though.

I don't think this is a good idea. Kimbrough is fine and WT could make better use of the money.

After giving it much thought, I think the renovaton of Kimbrough would be the way to go. The stadium has to be intimidating to visiting teams that are used to their smaller home fields. Definite homefield advantage.

You are right sj....and this smaller WT stadium nonsense needs to be fought and stomped out.
This was something cooked up by a few in a back-room meeting...without public input.
No real information has been released by WTAMU...and some clowns are trying to spread lies and hysteria on a college football board...about ADA handicapped compliance at Kimbrough...costing more than $30 million...which is complete BS.
Interesting that AISD was able to completely renovate D1ck Bivins Stadium for only $6-7 mil...so maybe the same folks need to be put in charge of renovating Kimbrough.
I suspect those pushing for a smaller stadium at WTAMU...are the same ones who fight against increasing the enrollment at WT.
Winning football and big crowds are great marketing...that will help increase a school's enrollment...but there are some who do not want the WT enrollment to go up.
