Dale Earnhardt Jr. is out at DEI after this season and now the obvious question is where he's headed next. Weigh in with your thoughts here. After announcing Thursday that he would leave Dale Earnhardt Inc. at the end of the year, Dale Earnhardt Jr. could announce Friday that he will join Richard Childress Racing in 2008, according to FOX8 WGHP in Greensboro/High Point, N.C.
Childress has scheduled a news conference Friday at Darlington Raceway, site of the Nextel Cup Dodge Avenger 500 (Saturday, 7 p.m. ET on FOX).
Rather than drive the No. 3 car that his father, Dale Earnhardt, made famous for RCR, Earnhardt Jr. would drive the No. 33 car, according to the report. Budweiser would follow Junior from DEI to the new team.
Another FOX affiliate, FOX25 in Boston, reported that Earnhardt Jr. finalized a deal with RCR on Thursday night and that an announcement would come soon.
If the reports are accurate, NASCAR's most popular driver will partner up with Richard Childress, the same man for whom Dale Earnhardt Sr. starting driving in 1981.
Childress and Earnhardt Sr. won six Nextel Cup championships before Earnhardt was killed on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500.

I guess he's trying to appeal to his constituency...but Jr. really needs to polish his image on TV...and get rid of the 3-day beard growth...and wear a nicer shirt...that doesn't make him look like Cousin Billy Fred...who just got off the tractor...to come in for lunch.
I know he's a driver...but he needs to project a lot more of a businessperson image on TV.

NO WT he does not. Thats Jr thing and always has been. He has always said and been upfront with those he works with that he is a down home type individual. He has pubilcally said before if he was not happy racing he coudl easily go back and work in a dealership fixing cars. Do you ever watch NASCAR. Dude is not the most articualte driver in the world. He also puts up no fronts or facades about who he is. I saw nothing wrong with teh shirt he was wearing. Looks like the usual. Ever watch shows he does? Normally he is in a t shirt. Then again he doe snot need you to make money either. Go back to focusing on something you know about and thats WTAMU.

Speed dismissed the 33 RCR deal as part of the RCR press conferance for tonight. Typically Jayski stuff is not always right.
Did report Chip Ganassi yook out a full page add in the Darlington paper stating for Jr to call him with a number given! What a riot!.
