I haven't done one of these in awhile, not sure if yall like em or not.
The Great Debaters- Good movie. Based on a black debate team during the Jim Crow era. Very interesting. Good performances (as usual) from Denzel Washington and Forrest Whittaker.
Untraceable- creepy! There is someone that is kidnapping people and streaming live video on the net.. the more visitors to the website, the quicker the victim dies. I could totally see something like this happening.. soon.
Narnia- Prince Caspian- We went to midnight movie. Very good movie. Darker than the first, but just as entertaining. It doesn't seem to fall into the "the sequel is worse than original" traps that many fall into.

thanks marked!
in that case..
we rented the Golden Compass last week. I knew that it was very controversial movie based on an even more controversial series of books. From the beginning I was confused. The plot was difficult for me to keep up with. I think I finally figured out the plot about 2 hours into the movie, about the time that I didn't hate it that much. (but the dislike was/is still there) If the other books in the series are made into movies.. they can't be much worse that this mess.
The Seeker- I didn't know anything about this movie, except what was on the box. Hubby picked it up. The movie didn't really appeal to me, but he sits and watches "girl movies" with me (PS I love you) so I figured that I owed him one. I didn't realize that it was based on a children's book series, I think I might check out the series. The movie was dark (both in theme and lighting) and might scare young children because of the theme. A young boy is one of the latest of warriors that fight the darkness. He "earned" this title by simply being the seventh son of the seventh son. Overall the movie isn't bad, but average.
Nancy Drew- I grew up reading her books. I don't know any young girl that didn't want to be Nancy. Julia Robert's niece does an amazing job in this movie. Nancy has always been a clean cut, very smart and polite young lady and the movie upheld those characteristics in Nancy's character. Adults who read the books will enjoy this movie and I hope that they will make more of these movies. Nice to have some "good clean fun" type of movies that the whole family can enjoy.
27 Dresses- I enjoyed this movie a lot.. a "girl movie" that even a guy could enjoy. Jane can't say no to anyone, ever. She is the girl that every bride turns to to help organize the big day. Since Jane is so helpful, she has had the pleasure (read torture) of being a bridesmaid 27 times. When her sister becomes engaged, she naturally turns to Jane for help. The problem is that Jane is in love with her sister's finacee- who is also her boss. You know how it is going to end, but watch it for the fun anyway.
There will be blood- Had to check out what all the fuss was about. Daniel Day's role choices are very unusual and this one is no different. An ambitious oil man, he is good at his job of discovering and harvesting oil. Of course his abilities have downsides too. He is willing to do anything to gain access to people's land to get to the oil. Not a happy ending. Leaves you with a bit of WTF feeling. The most quoted line of the movie is pretty much about 5 minutes till the end of the movie.
Lake Dead- one of the 8 movies to die for 2007. Very creepy movie. VERY bloody and graphic, do not watch with young children. Another one of those movies that could happen in some small town USA. Three sisters inherit a rundown motel from their deceased grandfather. (The grandfather that they had been led to believe had been dead for over 15 years.) They go down to check out the property to determine what they want to do with their newfound holdings. (This is a mixture of chainsaw massacre and Flowers in the Attic.. without trying to spoil too much of the movie.)
