So, what does everyone think about this latest controversy? After seeing the video, I can't believe the mother still wants the bus driver's job. Her daughter was being a little thug and I thought the bus driver was completely justified in her actions. Of course, the mother was about what one expect: obese, wearing sweats, and spoke with an untelligible twang.

Oh man, I hadn't even thought of that. Billy Bob Thornton can play him in the Lifetime movie. I thought the same thing about the bus driver. She did what she needed to do to protect the girl who was getting pummeled in the face.

I hadn't seen this before. Stupid doesn't begin to describe that family. I have known the mother since she was a 16-year-old overindulged thug herself and now her kids are growing up the same way.

I think the video said the incident happened a few months ago.
I'm no great fan of AGN but I don't know that I would consider this "news" of any sort. This is one woman who is mad that her daughter is being held accountable for her actions in any form and this is the way she has chosen to lash out. You don't see the bus driver do anything but pull the girls apart. Suzanne said her daughter had marks on her neck, but she didn't bring all this up until a few months later? When any "marks" would have healed and can't be seen? Seriously, I know this woman. Without knowing specifically about this incident, I can tell you I'm pretty sure it's all a crock. Not really newsworthy in the first place.

I'm wondering on this...if it was the school who notified the TV station or the complaining mother.
I also have to agree with bunnyface...that the mother is dumb...and doesn't deserve the publicity.

While I would agree that stupidity is not limited to those that are obese, you would be surprised about what a person's appearance (including weight) says to the world about them. When we see people that are morbidly obese, we can often safely assume they are either ignorant, lazy, gluttonous, or some various combination of the 3. We can also hypothesize that the person neither takes any pride in their appearance or in their overall health. If a person doesn't care about him/herself, how can they be expected to care about anything else? I think you are missing the point here. You need to look at the total picture. This woman gave an interview to a television station in sweat shorts and a t-shirt!!! That, combined with her appearance, her unintelligible interview, and the fact that her daughter was fighting in school, seriously damage her credibility. Besides, it's not like this woman was just a little chubby. Let's face it, she looks like a model candidate for "The Biggest Loser." The sad thing is, this woman is probably no older than 32 or 33. That is still relatively young. That represents a real moral failure for anyone that young to allow themselves to get that heavy. I place obesity on the same plateau as chemical addiction. It is entirely preventable and I think people who allow themselves to remain so heavy lack the willpower to change their misfortune. It only takes 30 minutes a day on the treadmill for most people to stay trim and fit.

This whole dyam thing should be a non-issue. I think the mother is in need of professional help and with continued parental supervision, the daughter will as well.
