I've eaten at My Thai on Coulter many times...and a few times at Chiyo's on the Boulevard...behind Arby's...
But haven't tried Thai Orchid yet...so what does anyone know about the food and service at this place?
My Thai is a legitimate sit-down restaurant...and Chiyo's may be more Ghetto Thai...but it wasn't too bad the times I've been there with people.

Most Amarillo Thai restaurants serve the same menu / recipes, and while this one is a **little** different, I would say that it is slightly below the "same 'ole same 'ole" when compared to the successful places like My Thai and Thai Arawan. Our restaurants are "Thai Inspired" at best.

I wondered on this place...because they're kinda in a mid-range rent place...and not a low-rent location.
We'll have to see if the new Western Plaza place bumps up the traffic in the I-40 and Western/Olsen area.
Looks like there is still some space in there to put more restaurants...but does Amarillo really have the traffic to handle more restaurants?
That will have to be seen.

The owners used to be over just north of downtown when they called their restaurant the Thai Spoon. They are very nice people: they used to hold a monthly breakfast meeting for their church, which is my grandfather's church.
As for the food: I have a friend who orders from them weekly. His family loves the pineapple fried rice and the jalapeno fried rice. I've tried the pineapple and it was good, but nothing real special. Their pad kee mao, which I have gotten at just about every Thai place in town, is average, which is to say good, but nothing special. The best Mao in town is at Bankock at the end of Amarillo Blvd. Their presentation is beautiful: they wrap the whole dish in a paper thin omelet, and surround the plate with raw heaps of the veg that are cooked into the dish. Mixed back in in ratios that you pick, it creates a great fresh flavored dish, adding an interesting crunch to balance the soft noodles.
