Is moving. The location on Paramount will be moving to the corner of Georgia and Wolflin, where the old Hastings was torn down.

Excellent! I love that idea. Margaritas within walking distance ... For real. Right across the street from my job! One of them, anyway.

Man, any of y'all remember the coupons they had back in the late 80's, early 90's? It would be for a free 2 item meal, no strings attached, (except it could only be Monday through Thursday.) I ate so many free meals, and before you's think too badly of me-- I was like a freshman in highschool. I may have been cheap, but I was young, dumb and cheap.
Once me and 3 friends went on a Friday. We couldn't use the coupon, so we sat and ate chips and salsa, and all the fresh tortillas we could. We even got the poor waitress to bring us honey and butter. That poor girl. She was so nice to us, and there we were sitting in the middle of a packed house-- for over an hour, I'm sure. what little A-holes we were.
Anyway, I have grown into a generous tipper, especially at Ruby's-- to atone for my sin. I'm excited for the new location. I think their buildings have some character.
And I'll be stumbling home with Writer and Cats.

I know I love the atmosphere. I prefer the one on Paramount, the one on Soncy seems too loud for me. I'll be sad to see the old location go, but I understand how old that building is and how the maintenance can only go so far.

Ruby buildings have character?
You do remember that Ruby's didn't go in that building until like the late mid to late 80's?
From like the late-70's to early-80's...that was Feferman's Western store.
One of my bum friends who was a year ahead of me all through school...worked there for a few months in the early-80's.
I need to remind him of that next time I see him.
The north end of Paramount up to I-40...has been in somewhat of a decline...since the overflow traffic ended from Western Plaza...and is slowly going ghetto.
Also in that area in the late-70's to early-80's...does anyone remember Godfather's Pizza...and Applegate's Landing?
I didn't even grow up in Amarillo...but we came here so often to shop...that I know everything that has changed in the last 35 to 40 years.
We'd usually eat out twice on shopping trips...and sometimes even get a hotel room...and stay all weekend.

WT, you just like being a grumpy ol' fart.

I'll be sad to see the old location go, but I understand how old that building is and how the maintenance can only go so far. Wouldn't surprise me if the new building on Georgia is almost like the one on Soncy...so don't expect quiet. Also...I bet the move is being made for more traffic on Georgia...and close visibility from I-40. They'll probably put up a tall sign...to catch I-40 traffic they did not have on Paramount. I'm thinking we'll probably see something else move in on Paramount in the old building. And speaking of noise...I've been in Blue Sky with others...when we had to almost shout over the racket...to hold a conversation. These days...I think quiet atmosphere in a place...means a higher priced menu...and some places seem to want the noise to appeal to a younger crowd.

Are they keeping the Ruby Tequila's on Paramount open until the new one is finished? Does anyone know a timeline on when the new one is supposed to be completed?

No, I haven't heard. I imagine they will keep it open. I asked them if it was going to be loud like the one on Soncy, and they said they were going to try to address that.

Yeah they will keep it open until the new one is built. Owner of the "purple" building will not let them out of their lease....so it will be their training kitchen until the lease is up. But then the one who holds the lease was the old owner back in the day when I waited tables up there....and well.....that is all I have to say about that.....
