I don't know much about the Central Hockey League...but since I heard this the other night on Ch.10 sports... I've been wondering if there is more to this story than we are being told. Why??? Because the Ice Bats have been playing somewhere down there...and now we are being told they can't find an arena. Why can't they find an arena...and why can't they play where they have been playing??? It's lame tell-nothing stories like this...that make the Amarillo Globe News a joke newspaper. Does the AGN know...and they aren't telling? Or did the AGN people not follow up like they should have...before printing? www.amarillo.com/stories/060308/mor_104759543.shtmlWeb-posted Tuesday, June 3, 2008 Ice Bats to skip 2008-09 season The Austin Ice Bats, members of the Central Hockey League, will not field a team for the 2008-09 season, according to Randy Sanders, the team's president/owner. The Ice Bats were unable to locate a home venue, including a possible home arena in Cedar Park. Sanders, who also is the president/owner of the Amarillo Gorillas, said his Austin team will continue to explore venues in and outside Austin for the 2009-10 season. The announcement leaves Austin without a professional hockey team for the first time in 12 years. The Ice Bats were 29-33-2 in the Southeast Division, finishing second and making the 2008 playoffs. - Globe-News staff
