Did we take our defense....and leave our offense at home??? WTF? You'd think they took the Canyon Jr.High offense up there to play. A 23-20 squeak-out win...with a 4th qtr field goal....that's very pitiful offensive performance. d**n folks! Our offense has got to get on track. There is no way we can feel good about the WT offense after this. One bright spot in the 4th qtr...a BIG sack by Dexter Manley Jr.

I have to echo this comment from the D2 football board...about the WT 4th quarter offense.... Very risky moves by WT.... Because WT was only up by 3 points.... And one interception and a run-back by Mesa...would have lost the game for WT. Up by 3 points...and less than 3 minutes left...we had no business trying to run a pass offense. I don't like having to criticize coaching decisions... But this was a risk we should not have been taking at that point in the game. This was NOT a good offensive performance at all by WT. Re: WT/Mesa Why are they passing the ball and going out of bounds to stop the clock.
Run the ball and kill the clock.

Just got through reading all the comments on the D2 board...where everyone is absolutely aghast at WT's game performance. I'm so frustrated...I may not able to get back to sleep tonight. Geez...what a pitiful WT performance. Lowest scoring performance in years...and this almost brings back memories of the dark days before Carthel showed up. We finally get an improved TV game broadcast...and then they play like that.

I watched the 1st half an agree they need to step things up a little bit. I am sure Carthel will be getting after them to do just that.

Televised paddle spanking of the offensive coaches on the south steps of Old Main.

Well the running game only averaged 2.9 yards. taht has to get a tad better. I do not care if we run this Tech spread offense or not. if we run 2.9 average needs to get better. Mesa was a better team then last year. We should step it up. Quit being so gloomy.

Go read this thread.... www.d2messageboard.com/showthread.php?t=12949I admit to being a big fan of the spread and high scoring WT offenses.... And it's like we went from the Spread Offense to the Dead Offense. I hope big play choice changes are made...because I think we didn't properly utilize our talents last night. It's going to take a lot more than that effort to win the conference and make it farther in the playoffs. Carthel raised expectations...and now we've got to make sure we deliver. I will now step back and watch...and expect much better in game 2.

One thing I noticed seemed that the open read was not getting thrown to last night. If it was I can tell you WT would have had more points and yard easily.

I hope that was just some confusion or miscommunication in the game plan...
But we definitely should have been playing ball control and run the clock out...
At the end of the 4th quarter...when we were only up by 3...and had 2 minutes left.
Because I was standing up and yelling WTF are you guys doing?
