I posted this on CR and hope you guys don't mind I posted it here...... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am not smart about politics but try to keep up with whats going on in Washington because it affects every American in one way or another. Last night one of the debaters made what I thought a good point. Why are we always in everyone elses business? Why are we in the middle of every mess out there? I know we are a leader in the world but why do we have to be in conflict all the time? Why can't we spend the money they are spending on BS and make our selves energy efficient? Are "all" the politicians in the pocket book of big oil companies? They are the only ones who stand to lose if we become energy dependant right? Why is there millions of Americans with no health insurance? Would we let another country come over here and tell us what to do? Was 9/11 retaliation for us butting into other countries affairs? I am so confused.....

I believe we are in conflict all the time for two reasons. First, the world keeps asking us for help. Sure, they also complain when we help others, and even when the help we give them doesn't turn out to be exactly what they wanted. The second, and perhaps most important, is because conflict is the natural state for humans. We like peace but we really can't stand it all the time.
We won't make ourselves energy efficient because it is too easy to waste. Waste is convenient and cheap. And if others have energy we can buy cheaper we will. Might as well use their energy and save ours for when they run out.
Many have no health insurance because frivolous lawsuits, and the liability brought about because of them, has pushed the costs for health out of reach for a great many.
We do let others tell us what to do but that is just on smaller scales. Like Mexico. WE have practically been invaded and many of them want us to cater to their needs. Like demanding official documents also being in Spanish.
Osama bin Laden once tried using the excuse of us butting into Saudi Arabia's business as a reason for 9/11. THe truth was the terrorists hate us and everything we stand for. Mainly from a religiously fanatical perspective.

I am not terribly well versed about politics, but I do have opinions
We are in everyone else’s business, because the people of America get sick of dealing with the Politian’s and tell them to go to hell, then because they need something to do they go pick on other countries. Personally I think we should give these other countries a cow and bull and a chicken and rooster, a few potatoes, some rice and some other things they can grow…and tell them, here ya go, this is the help you get…make it work or go hungry, we are outta here. We have enough hungry, homeless people here; I think we need to fix our problems before we try to fix everyone else’s problems. I know personally I am more concerned about my house than I am about my neighbors…and I am more concerned about my country than I am about Canada and Mexico. Maybe I am just a cold-hearted B*tch…but it isn’t the first time I have heard that….so Oh well!
Yes all politicians are in somebody riches pocket book…and I am willing to bet that most start with Lockheed Martin and move to the smaller ones. No I am not a fan of Lockheed…but I am not going into details right now!
I think America needs to find a way to get healthcare like Canada has, everyone is covered… I think that Dr.’s should not be able to charge more to the uninsured than they do for the insured. Obviously, if they can’t afford healthcare, they can’t afford to pay a higher price for the same medical care they would have gotten with the insurance. They certainly don’t get treated any better; more time spent with them and so on and so forth.
