Burger Chef

The other night I was watching a documentary about Johnny Cash. It was made in the late sixties. In one scene they are traveling in their tour bus and they passed by and old Burger Chef restaurant. I had almost forgotten about them. They had a distinctive odd shaped sign and building. We often ate at the one on Amarillo Blvd. The building is still there, though the distinctive sign has been completely replaced. I know there was another over on South Grand about where the Sonic drive in is now and I think there was another on Western close to I40 but I can't remember it for sure. They had good food I especially remember their good milk shakes. They were later taken over by Hardee's. I don't think we even have one of those anymore.
Here is an example of what the restaurants looked like. This one is a lot like the one that was on Amarillo Boulevard.

I remember those well, veggie. Going there was always a treat for us.
