Well, I pried myself away from the gloom and doom of the television news about the economy, as we all wait out the pox on America that will magically evaporate on January 20, 2009, to go out last night for a restaurant meal to celebrate the anniversary with the wife.
We decided on Johnny Carino's at 7:30p.m. and when we arrived it was gridlock in the parking lot with cars unable to find a parkign spot at any of the three establishments that share a common parking lot. We finally found an empty spot behind Lin's and made our way next door to Carino's where after squeezing our way through the crowd of waiting customers at the entrance that it would be a wait of about 45 minutes. The place was packed and noisy, to the point I felt sorry for the service staff. Earlier in the day we were out and about on the west end, and if this country is in a deep and serious recession amidst the "worst economy since Herbert Hoover", I sure haven't seen any evidence of it in Amarillo. Actually, I have been hearing of layoffs so not to make light of a bad situation some of us may find ourselves in, but the public was out spending money last night.

Napoli's downtown was bumpin'. Meaning, it was packed. And it was goooood. Chicken Caracofi with Shrimp is muy excellante.
