I hear we are getting one? Why another BBQ place?

Amarillo very seldom gets anything new that we don't already have several of.
But I'm betting this will probably be on I-40...and geared toward the out of town crowd.
Personally I'm not big on barbecue...and would prefer another nice steak place.

Speaking of steak places, I now know where all the cowboy boots in the panhandle go when they die. I was served a steak that had the tenderness of shoe leather. We went to a local establishment along I-40 that advertises its steak menu. I ordered a gentlemen's cut of sirloin and was served something that looked like slices of corned beef. I knew I was in trouble when I put my knife into it and had to use extreme force to cut through it. My meal didn't fail to disappoint. I told the waitress the steak was too tough to chew and the didn't charge me for it. I'll chalk this one up to one of those things - bad luck. , and won't mention the name, but it will be a while before I go there again. Instead I think I slide next door to the Outback because I know I can always get a good steak there

The best steak in town is at my house... But if I had to go and buy one some where. I would go to Outback...

Last November we went to the Big Texan and I had a delicious steak, cooked to perfection. Plus the rest of the meal was excellent too.

I went to the Famous Dave's in Abeline last weekend. I LOVED it. 7 of us ate the family-style off of a garbage can lid in the center of the table. I think it was 53 bucks or so, and we still had leftovers. Best ribs I've had anywhere. Brisket better than anyplace in town. BBQ Chicken was also good. The Wilber's beans, fried onion strings and smashed potatoes: all good. They have 5 BBQ sauces, and we had fun doing blind taste tests around the table. But the meat had such a good flavor (and was already sauced) that I didn't even use any.
It hurts me to gush about a "corporate" bbq place, but its the truth. Way better than the locals. For example: Robinson's, which is in the Get Out section of the paper this week, is a joke. Brisket is one of the best sellers they say? The brisket they gave me: drab color throughout, no bark, tasted like processed bologna.

I see they're building this sucker over by the Drury Suites. Or, I should say I assume, as the posted liquor license is licensed to "Famous Enterprises".
