From the internet chatter....
Looks like WTAMU is planning months in advance to have a down 2009 season.
It's a fact WT football has not had a winning season without transfers since the 1960's.
Even back then WT could only win by bringing in lots of out-of-state players like Duane Thomas and Mercury Morris.
**** College football is not high school football...where you have to live with what you have.
In college football...you don't have to have down seasons.
In college football you bring in transfers to fill out the roster...so you don't have a down season.
**** Appears that WT has declared that they want to have a down season by not bringing in transfers.
For over 40 years...every time WT has tried to go the freshmen/soph route...it's been a losing season.
The last time WT tried this route from 2002 to 2004...the result was a disasterous 5-27 record.
Appears that WT has decided that 4 winning seasons are enough...
And that they need to tear the program down a bit.
So all that talk about wanting to go deeper in the playoffs...and compete for a national championship...will not be happening...at least in 2009.
VERY PITIFUL TO PLAN A DOWN SEASON IN ADVANCE BY DECLARING THAT TRANSFERS MAY NOT BE USED.
**** Fans...if you were expecting WT to continue the success of the last 4 years...
****Give up in 2009...because it has already been decided that it will not happen.
Wonder if Gerald Myers and Mike Leach could get away with this at Tech?
******** WT fans need to stand up and say no to planned down seasons!
