I loved this place as a kid. I was surprised to see Lazurus Motors on Wolflin (across from Carolina's) using their old, antique-looking sign.

That was a creative local restaurant...
That I remember being located in the same place where Outback is now.
They had bench seats from old cars for seating in the booths.
Creativity now seems to be bit lacking in a lot of the locally-owned restaurants.
Going farther back...
Do you remember places like Zuider Zee on the north side of I-40?
And Applegate's Landing where Doche Cleaners is now on Paramount?
Or Adam's Rib...that I believe was located where Club Baloo is now by the drainage lake pit?
Or the Cross-Timbers steakhouse that was located off the north side of I-40 east?
Or Rhett Butler's in the old 2 story house off 16th and Georgia?
Or the Country Squire Dinner Theater?
Or Razzleberry's on Paramount...south of where Randy's Music Mart used to be?
The locally-owned restaurant scene in Amarillo...was much better off during the 70's.

west-texan: I remember all those places and more. I agree with you (and that in itself scares me) that locally owned restaurant scene in Amarillo was better off in the 1970's.
