Need to watch Tech because Kent Hance and Gerald Myers are out to take over the world. WTAMU even got mentioned in a comment. And Tech growth has direct implications for WTAMU...since Tech already has a large Amarillo presence...and has fueled much of it's growth by stealing many potential WT students out of Amarillo. WT has a hungry 900 lb gorilla operating right in it's own backyard. >>>> For WTAMU...it needs to be...START GROWING NOW...OR BE LEFT FAR BEHIND. Too many years of sleeping may eventually come back and bite WT in the butt. Tech is talking about going to 40,000 students...and WT needs to wake up and start growing itself. www.doubletnation.com/www.lubbockonline.com/stories/050809/loc_437507948.shtml

Some people are eventually going to be really sorry in Amarillo...
If they keep letting the school just down the road...
Grow and grow and eventually eat up all WT's students.
WT hasn't had a growth-oriented president since James Cornette kicked ass in the 60's...and grew WT from a little college into a university.
Most of the buildings on campus were built while Cornette was WT president.
And the little parasite of Canyon has spent 40 years trying to keep WT small.
I wonder if Canyon realizes if WT dries up and shrivels...that they will only have about 500 people living in their town?
Then again...it seems that may be what Canyon wants.
Tech has got to be laughing while they build their school at WT's expense.

Tech will be laughing when they become a Tier 1 school. It is coming.

It's sad that even Amarillo Junior College laughs at WTAMU. AC has greatly out-marketed WT for at least the last 25 years. AC is faster and more progressive than WT. And now AC has new billboards all over Amarillo...saying Why Pay More For The Exact Same Degree. Really starting to look like Tech may just want to swallow up WTAMU. WT and Amarillo really need to wake up...pull heads out...and do something before it's too late. www.lubbockonline.com/stories/051009/spo_438241960.shtml

Amarillo Junior college is still aggressively out-marketing WT on billboards and TV.
Even to the point of actually misleading people to say a 2 yr degree is the same as a 4 yr degree.
This is the latest AC commercial now showing on Amarillo TV.
WT rarely goes on TV...and the few WT billboards in Amarillo...just have a picture...and say nothing at all about the benefits of attending WTAMU over Amarillo College.
WT makes no real effort to take on the other schools competing for students.
Sure AC is a very good junior college...but WTAMU should try to tell students and employers that a 2 yr associates degree is not the same as a 4 yr bachelor degree.
As a WT alum...I get tired of my alma mater being out-marketed year after year after year.

If WTAMU continues to let Tech just grow and grow...without WT growing and getting larger...
>>>> WT stands a very real chance of being marginalized by Tech for both students and funding.
I'd really hate for my alma mater to become the WTAMU anthill...next to the Texas Tech mountain.
Regarding the 2nd article from the Lubbock Avalanche Journal...
This should be big motivation for WTAMU to keep it's football product moving onward and upward.
Because it's very obvious that Tech would also like to steal WT's fans away.

The dangerous thing about WT sleeping and not growing and expanding...
While Tech grows and grows fast...
Is that it will become harder and harder for WT to add new programs...
And get Texas state funding if the same program exists at Tech...just 105 miles down the road.
Then WT starts getting marginalized.
>>>> WTAMU has got to get itself kicked into real rapid growth mode.
Even Amarillo College has a much better enrollment growth rate than WT.
WT needs to be adding new programs and adding new students and adding new faculty.

Tech's about to grow right out of season ticket holders. To make people give a donation before they will release bought and paid for tickets is insane.
