Never have had a bad meal at Jorge's on 45th. We just went to their new location on Bell just south of Hillside.
You've all heard of the ways you can tell if the food is good at a restaurant; when they can build a brand new building about 3 times as large as the last location, they have to be selling a lot of tacos.
The building is nice, but a little noisy. Modern decorating trends have gravitated to hard surfaces like bricks, tile and stained concrete. It's economical I suppose but it does tend to make the interior less conducive to relaxed conversation.
We went there yesterday and got a seat at a pub table in the bar area. The lunch menu is good only mon - fri so we were paying for entrees. I had a shredded beef burrito that I could only consume about half of for $10 bucks. I would have preferred to have something from the lunch menu and the service could have been a bit faster, but they were very busy.
I like the place - the food is excellent and they offer steaks and ribs which IMHO are excellent.
It must go to my accounting instincts but I couldn't help fixating on the thick wad of cash register receipts when we left, making me wonder how long it would take him to get his investment back on that nice new building.
