In the last year or so...it's almost like they have turned the power down a bit on their transmitter. I have the same SUV and the same radio... But when their signal used to be strong to 100+ miles north of Amarillo... The KGNC talk radio signal now starts fading at about 80 to 85 miles. And in the Amarillo city limits... It's now affected by some power transformers on poles and lights and traffic signal control boxes. Interesting how the other Amarillo AM and FM stations don't seem to be affected. Some places I've noticed the KGNC signal being over-ridden by external sources are: - 26th and Georgia...waiting to cross Georgia going west.
- 26th & Georgia area...going south on Georgia past Market Street...to turn west on 26th.
- Going south on Western in the right lane...about to turn west on 34th.
Even the low-power Amarillo weather station at 1610 AM is not affected like KGNC 710 AM is. And those just a few of the places...that I noticed while driving this afternoon. It has not always been this way...so KGNC has changed something about their signal.
