AUSTIN, Texas - Texas Gov. Rick Perry is in the emergency room of an Austin hospital after breaking his collarbone in a mountain biking accident near his home.
The governor's office said in a news release that Perry was being treated in the emergency room at Seton Medical Center. He broke his right collarbone and had a minor abrasion to his right elbow.
The statement said Perry was to be released from the hospital Tuesday night.
Perry's spokeswoman Allison Castle said she had no other details on the accident.
The accident forced the postponement of Perry's planned trips to Galveston, Corpus Christi and South Padre Island to sign bills passed by the Legislature.
Perry planned to sign bills for windstorm insurance reform and for supplemental funding for the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
