I have a personal policy of never patronizing Applebees because of past poor service, a name that is just too cute and from working for a major food service industry wholesale distributor, was aware of Applebees tendency to use too many nuked frozen entrees on its menu.
The s/o and I went there last night to try the 2 for $20 menu special because we are sharing more orders now due to the unnaturally large amounts of food they serve, we find that even 1/2 of a typical restaurant entree is still too much food, and why waste money?
The 2 for $20 dollar special offers one choice of 5 different appetizers and two choices of sever burger and chicken entrees. The s/o had the quesallada burger while I had the steakhouse burger and the onion ring appetizer. The appetizer was enough food to fill both of us up and we should have stopped there, but we went on and were able to finish about 1/2 of our dinner entree.
All in all a great value and you save enough to tip the wait person a little extra for saving 1/2 of the order in a take home box.
The food was pretty good, but then again I've never had a bad hamburger or pizza, but the emphasis on value of this feature is really worth the visit.
