WTF? They just put this out today. twitter.com/wtathleticsThis can't be right. >>>> Where the hell are all the new transfers? You can't win with this freshmen crap. >>>> This is NOT progress and moving forward. This is keep WTAMU small crap...a HUGE step backwards. >>>> Every time WT tries to go with freshmen...they get their ass kicked. This is 5-27 Ronnie Jones crap or maybe even worse. >>>> WT has not had a winning season in the last 40 years without a lot of transfers. >>>> This is a losing season that was decided in advance. www.gobuffsgo.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/wtam-m-footbl-mtt.html

Easy w-t...lay down and take a blood pressure pill.
I think they have 9 JC transfers. All the 39 freshman you see listed I believe are redshirt freshman. While still a little wet behind the ears, they are not wide-eyed, peach fuzz wannabes.
Coach Cathel will be ready for the next rodeo.

Just think how good they'll be in 4 years. He must be laying the groundwork for a national championship.

The freshmen thing has NEVER WORKED at WT...at least not in the last 40 years.
Every time they have tried this...it has meant LOTS of losing at WT.
After seeing what Carthel has done at WT and Eastern New Mexico before...
I believe this change in recruiting direction has been forced on Carthel by other people.
>>> This has always failed at WT...and I don't see why this time would be any different.
Lets see...
This has failed in the past for these coaches at WT:
1. Gene Mayfield
2. Don Davis
3. Steve Graf
4. Morris Stone
5. Stan McGarvey
6. Ronnie Jones
I don't see many number gaps in that roster...but let's hope a lot of transfers come to WT.
Because I haven't seen a lot of winning at WT since the late 70's without transfers.
With each player only receiving a partial scholarship in D2...it's hard to keep guys 4 years.
>>> Until WT goes back up to D1 with more scholarships...transfers are going to be a fact of life.

Glaring numbers here are the underclassmen who handle the ball. I only see one Sr and one JR WR.
But Carthel has proven time and time again he can get a lot out of guys. Have some optimisim. I know historically it looks bad but give it time.

My team and alma mater lost 22 starters last year and they made it to the national championship game in the NCAA's FCS of division 1. Rhett Bomar left the Sooners in disgrace and went to Sam Houston State and they went 4-7. You never know how the chemistry of a team will work out until they hit the field.

Other people are already starting to question this roster. If there is a drop-off in game performance...or a drop-off in game fan attendance... The sh!t is going to hit the fan. I am sick and tired of WT never having more than 3 or 4 good years... Before some local crooks come in and say WT can only recruit freshmen. And that always makes WT start losing again. When you can recruit players and transfers in college... THERE IS NO REASON TO EVER HAVE A DOWN SEASON IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. YOU RECRUIT THE PLAYERS YOU NEED TO WIN. RECRUITING FRESHMEN DOES NOT PRODUCE WINNING SEASONS AT WT. And to those who say that winning D2 schools don't use transers. I can always post the Pitt State roster that is loaded with transfers. www.pittstategorillas.com/home/men/football/roster.dot>>>> Having mostly young players with no game experience is not progress for WT.

A small improvement in the roster since this topic was started. Will it be enough...maybe...but that is yet to be seen. But WTF? You still can't tell on this roster how many of these freshmen are redshirts. All it takes is FR-RS by the names...which is not hard at all to do. WT athletic department administration is still a bit lacking in polish and professionalism. Tech has quality control people on staff...and WT could use someone like that.
